I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Michael Moore On The Election

MichaelMoore.com:

A new year has begun. And before we've had a chance to break our New Year's resolutions, we find ourselves with a little more than 24 hours before the good people of Iowa tell us whom they would like to replace the man who now occupies three countries and a white house.

Twice before, we have begun the process to stop this man, and twice we have failed. Eight years of our lives as Americans will have been lost, the world left in upheaval against us... and yet now, today, we hope against hope that our moment has finally arrived, that the amazingly powerful force of the Republican Party will somehow be halted. But we know that the Democrats are experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and if there's a way to blow this election, they will find it and do it with gusto.

Do you feel the same as me? That the Democratic front-runners are a less-than-stellar group of candidates, and that none of them are the "slam dunk" we wish they were?

Sadly, Michael, you have finally seen the real Hillary Clinton. Hopefully the Democrats will see her for what she really is in time to avoid the disaster of her nomination.
Sadly, too, your list of candidates leaves off (like all those in the MSM) the one most qualified to BE president, Bill Richardson. Thus he has no chance to BECOME president.
Obama is symbolically a great choice, but I sometimes wonder what we will get beyond the symbols. Coulod someone advise him to choose Richardson for a running mate? That would give the ticket depth and substance.
There is still good reason to analyse resumes.

Mike, "occupies 3 countries and the White House". You forgot Kosovo and Bosnia, remember, the wars you "liked".

I find it comical that I've heard so many times now, and just from Michael Moore, that the democrat candidates are failures while the republicans are so powerful. These comments are made in a vacuum as if there are no people choosing. Granted most Americans seem to make their own decisions in a vacuum but that is where the responsibility lies, with the people. Whether either party likes it or not, in every election the people have chosen who they want. This also doesn't mean that the people haven't chosen poorly(in my own opinion, for the last 28 years) or by a narrow margin at times. But nonetheless, the people, no matter how polarized, chose. Blame the people or make an intelligent argument about why the system is bad but don't blame the candidates just because you can or even because their awful. We must take responsibility no matter how bitter the pill is to swallow.

Well, Mr. Moore, certainly this assemblage is far less impressive than the Republican offering.
What are you talking about, dude? We've got oldsters and Boomers and damn near Generation Xers over here! We have a woman and a black man! We have exceedingly intelligent people, exceedingly good looking people (well, one anyway - Edwards); this is an impressive field I would say. We've even got a New Age-y guy in Dennis Kucinich! We Are America!
On the Republican side you find: bald or gray haired white men trying to sound macho. Trying first to frighten us in order to remind us how important macho is in "this dangerous world" (made so by people like them). In a fair fight (and let's hope it IS a fair fight) there is no question who would win. I hate to say this as an Ohio State fan, but we're talking an SEC/ Big Ten match-up here!

The only office I'd ever vote for Moore for would be that of movie maker. It would be interesting to see what a disaster any administration put together by him would create. Arnold, for example, is a far better politician than Moore ever will be. But of course Moore makes uncomparably better movies...

Moore insulted Kucinich by suggesting that Kucinich ever said a UFO took him anywhere. So Moore's claim that Kucinich most closely represents what Moore's ideology is ,is pure bs.Then Moore goes on to say lets not waste more time on Kucinich....although Kucinich never said not to vote for him.Kucinich said IF he loses the primary..support Obama.
Moore..you've lost all credibility with me.
Is there anyone in the public communications world who isnt a lying sack of sloth dung?

CNN just quoted Michael Moore on Obama that Democrats are about to blow another election big time if they choose Obama.

Moore doesn't fall for hype.

John Edwards is the worst nightmare of Republicans and of business-as-usual in DC. I'm convinced Edwards is the one who can challenge the greed that has permeated our culture and controls so much of our country's institutions. Corporate media has generally marginalized or trivialized his candidacy. Media executives and corporate sponsors aren't eager for a president who's more interested in the good of individual Americans and a strong middle class than he is in making rich colleagues richer. An Edwards presidency would be a major and welcome change for most Americans and for the world.

I've studied candidates' policy proposals and Edwards has the most substative by far.

And Edwards can win the General Election. A number of polls show him being successful over each of the Republican candidates by healthy margins--far better than other viable Democratic candidates.

NO, Idlemind, Edwards earned his money Fighting for the underdogs, which is exactly what we need right now.

Michael ~ I love your witticism. Always do ... Thank You! But, I disagree with your impression that our Democrat hopefuls are less than impressive.

I would be glad to have Clinton, Obama, Edwards, or Biden in the White House over any of the Republicans ~ and esp. over Huckabee (whom I can't stand & don't trust), Romney (too conservative), & Guiliani (who hasn't shown integrity, in the same way he did post 9/11).

But if you were to run ~ as Democrat or Republican ... or even, Independent ~ I'd vote for YOU. Have a great one, Michael!

Reading these responses I have little faith that we will change the direction of our country. People don't care about facts, they vote with their emotions, glitz and glamour provided by the candidates. Typical American!
You deserve what you get, more of the same we already have - ergo no progress.

If experience was the only determining factor:

Bill Clinton would never have been president….. Bush 10 times more experienced

Microsoft would never be………..IBM 100 times more experienced.

Google would be around………Microsoft 50 times more experienced

Walmart would never be…. Sears and Kmart are 50 times more experienced

Youtube would never be……. Microsoft, Google 50 times more experienced

Facebook would never be…… Microsoft, Google 50 times more experienced

Amazon would never be… Barnes and Nobles 100 times more experienced

Entrepreneurs all, don’t do it, there are more experience companies out there who could do it better.

:Looks like 1992 Bill Clinton was right. Looks like Barack Obama is right now

Moore is a lighting rod for the right. It really wouldn't matter how the interview went--Hillary would lose votes just sitting down with the guy. There are plenty of liberals (too) who have no great affection for MM: his films are always, to some degree, about himself. By now, Moore has done more damage to liberal causes than even the Clintons. She knows that. I see no reason why Hillary should pander to him. I'm sure he's pissed that he can't be as influential as Oprah.
