AP :

International pressure mounted on Kenya's leaders Wednesday to end postelection violence that has killed more than 300 people, including dozens burned alive as they sought refuge in a church.

The killing of up to 50 ethnic Kikuyus as they sheltered in a church in the Rift Valley city of Eldoret fueled fears of deepening tribal conflict in what has been one of Africa's most stable democracies.

Perhaps we are bearing witness to democracy’s undeniable flaw…it never works when there are people willing to lie (Bush), cheat (Cheney), steal (Iraq oil), and kill (2001-present) in order to preserve their power and hidden agendas. Thus the political structures, of various DEMOCRATIC nations, are literally “falling apart.” But unlike many Kenyans, we Americans are controlled little sheep. We need the all mighty DOLLAR to indulge ourselves in mini-mansions, luxury cars, SUVs, HD dvds, & designer everything. And from the need of these pleasantries comes “control.” For if we EVER left our jobs and took to the streets, effectively, for a false election we stand to lose EVERYTHING…job, home, car(s), cell phone, marriage (to some that is a plus)…ect. There is no way in hell any of these republicans can win in 08, and if they do (the Diebold way) are any Americans willing to lose everything…even your life to preserve the IDEALS of your country’s true democratic theme. The Kenyans are mostly poor people trying to survive, yet they are protesting and dying for what they believe is unjust. What will you do when the mighty dollar’s value is equivalent to that of a peso, gas @ $5, and our leaders begin their war with Iran because of a “new” terrorist attack on US soil (and possible postponing the 08 elections; executing directive 51)…you have 10 months to decide…
Remember…Bush never said, on any news interview, that Musharraf was wrong or undemocratic for firing judges, jailing lawyers, suspending their constitution, and beating his people. All he said was “he needs to restore democracy ASAP.”
…10 months people….

It's an interesting thought, but I wonder just how the Kenyan government would go about that. How could they end violence on such a scale? Shoot people? That would just create more violence.
