The only two who would be able to do the work from the first day and have the experience to make a difference. Too bad that we value fluff over substance.

We must reform our campaign financing and regulations that limit the ability for the american citiozen to cast his/her vote for whatever candidate they want. Jus tfound out neither Obama or Edwards will be on my ballot in the primaries- How is this Democracy???
If I want to vote for Kucinich in Nov- I should be able to- regardless of how much money he has in the bank.
I'm sick of being corralled like cows to the election. Make longer Ballot Forms !!!!

I didn't realize Thompson is still around. He must be catching up on lost sleep. The media seem to be ignoring him. Ah! He needs a mascot. Just about everyone else has one. Perhaps Jackie Chan? The no-bid Bush brothers? Liza Minnelli?

Liza would be good. When Thompson can't think of anything sensible to say, Liza can hit the floor.

Yes, it is a shame that Joe Biden left the race. His campaign is right that he is "right" on most issues. His partition plan for Iraq, in particular, is the only one that adumbrates the inevitable outcome. He was a realist.
But I don't really see him as a vice president. Not sure why not. I do see him as a secretary of state, national security advisor, or even attorney general. Another good candidate for the latter would be Chris Dodd, whose courage standing up for civil liberties is uplifting.
We've lost two of the best -- probably the best -- candidates, in one swell foop. A sad coda to the otherwise welcome sanity check for the Clinton juggernaut.

Once again the farmers and Jesus Freaks of Iowa have decided who I will not be able to vote for. Whether or not he might have prevailed, it would have been nice to at least be able to vote for Biden. In fact, just once in my life it would be nice to vote for my favorite candidate in the primary election. But the one candidate best-qualified in foreign policy is gone. One can only hope that he may be resurrected as the vice presidential nominee.

As a Biden support, I should comment that this game is completely about money. I wish Biden had been a bit more cynical early on and worked to get a bigger cash hoard. Had he been in a better position to pay off the media, I have no doubt that he has the talent, character, and experience to go toe to toe with Obama and Edwards. And he would have made mince meat of Hillary.

It was an amazing spectacle. While thanking his constituency, Senator Chris Dodd managed to auction off a 54 DeSoto, two school buses, and the film right to "The Bowry Boys does Des Moines"

It's Friday! Can we at least get an updated headline?

C'mon, Biden and Dodd were never really IN the race. Oh yea, they declared they were candidates, would blow how air anytime there were 2 or more people within shouting distance, but they never had a chance. Anyone who thought they did needs to take off their rose colored glasses.

It's time Iowa is stripped of this holier than though atittude. Where they go first, because they take things serious, and they really dig deep, do the research. Where ideas trump money. Come to find out 2.4 million don't even participate. Where "viable" really stands for "buyable". Predictability was right on, you didn't need any polls, you could just have followed the money and the financing. You think you voted for change? When the candidates with the big funding, keep winning, you're kidding yourself, there isn't going to be any change. Knowledge, Experience, Substance, Qualifications, Truth, Honesty, Fortitude, all these things I've been reading and hearing that Iowa value, got shut down last night. Ignored, just as corporate America and the media had hoped and been doing itself. Good for those of you who caucused for Biden and Dodd, YOU were right! You stood up for change and what Iowa's reputation had been. The rest of you, shame on you. You slammed the door on the quality candidates and the rest of the American people. You denied the rest of us the mere CHANCE to vote for OUR candidates. The ones that truely could bring experience, and change. If god forbid one of these 3 don't go on to win the Presidency, we will have Iowa to thank for eliminating the real best and brightest. Disgraceful.

It is a shame that the media choices are the only candidates going forward.

Farewell Dodd and Biden. In a less hostile environment to Washington politics you would have made great candidates.
I hope you will continue your great work in the Senate, or consider serving in a future Obama administration. Your country still needs you. Best of luck.

I bet Thompson is secretly disappointed. By now, the man is looking for any excuse to drop out and take a nap!

Joe Biden and Dodd will either have a place in the next administration or be Senate super-powerhouses. They both knew that their gigs were up in the primaries.

Fred Thompson seems a bit oblivious. Maybe when he comes up with single digits in NH, he'll get the message, go home, and enjoy his tempting wife!

Biden sold his soul a long time ago. He's not fit for a job in government. Retire Biden and let someone who doesn't have their head up their ass have the job.
