The British press reports that Britney's paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib (who is British and married) is trying to sell intimate photos he's taken of the troubled pop star since her release from the hospital. Price? Over $1 million.

The Los Angeles-based photo agency that Adnam Ghalib works for, Finalpixx, was yesterday trying to broker a deal with UK newspapers for use of pictures of Mr Ghalib and Miss Spears together.

The images were taken after Spears managed to check herself out of a secure unit at an LA hospital

Dr Phil has canceled his planned all-Britney show on Monday and neither of her parents will be appearing with him:

In a statement posted Monday on his Web site, McGraw said the 26-year-old pop star's situation was "too intense" for him to go forward with the show. He didn't say whether he planned to reschedule.

Hours after her release from Cedars-Sinai and a talk to Dr. Phil (below), Britney Spears showed up in the desert drinking champagne with a paparazzi she has befriended, Adnan Ghalib.

According to a report in Norm Clarke's Vegas Confidential column, the pop singer, 26 and Ghalib, 35, shared an hour-long breakfast at 11 a.m. this morning. Spears was seen "celebrating her [hospital] release with a mimosa champagne" cocktail during the meal, and even "went to the restroom with her champagne flute while [Ghalib] stood outside the door," Clarke writes.

Television's "Dr. Phil" McGraw said Britney Spears was released from a hospital Saturday but still needs psychological help, the syndicated programs "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" reported in a press release.

The troubled pop star was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by paramedics Thursday night after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving the two sons she had with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

"My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention," McGraw told the programs.

"She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her," he said.

McGraw planned to talk more about Spears on his daytime talk show this week, the press release said.

Responding to an e-mail request for further comment from McGraw, a "Dr. Phil" publicist referred The Associated Press to his statement posted on the etonline.com Web site.

Medical center officials have had no comment on Spears, and authorities have given no full explanation of why she was hospitalized.

TMZ reports Dr. Phil blindsided Britney at the hospital, and contrary to his press release, only talked to her for 15 minutes:

People on the 7th floor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center say the Doctor arrived at about 7:30 AM Saturday. We're told Britney did not invite him in; she didn't even know he was coming. Sources say it was Brit's parents who told Dr. Phil to go to the hospital. When he walked into her room, we're told, a blindsided Britney walked out -- and eventually came back.

Sources say Phil tried speaking with Spears for about 15 minutes -- not an hour as Dr. Phil's press release states --but she wanted none of it. We're told Phil was doing almost all the talking. As for walking with her to the car on her way out -- again as his release states -- we're told, if he was walking behind her, that's news to her. She absolutely was not accompanied by him.

I went to Dr Phil's tv show website and emailed him and so should everyone here who agrees that this was an outrageous ethics breach. This is what I had to say in my email:

I am a social worker/counselor for homeless street teens. The young people I work with have many problems. The subject of confidentiality comes up alot during our sessions because these children have trust issues.

I do not agree with your actions concerning Ms Spears. You broke many professional rules Dr Phil, including confidentiality by speaking AT ALL about your meeting with her, even the fact that you had a meeting. SHAME ON YOU! I would not be surprised and I would agree if sanctions are brought against you. You have lost sight of your professional ethics due to what I can only guess... perhaps you believe in your own celebrity more than your responsibility to a young person in trouble. SHAME SHAME SHAME

If Phil is a practicing mental health practitioner, as he claims, he should be brought up on charges in his licensing state(s) for violations of ethics and HIPAA statutory obligations. It does not matter who asked or why he visited her in the hospital due to her clinical situation, ... without Spears' express permission to the contrary, he MUST NOT disclose anything he sees or hears about her, including her very presence in the hospital when he went to her bedside.

It does not matter a bit that he was not paid, ... what matters was simply that he adhere to his oath and stipulations of his license. He went there as a professional due to Britney Spears' condition. Otherwise any of us could have gone to the hospital, insisted upon seeing her, ... and talking to the press.

Dr. McGraw seems to have committed the same violations as George Clooney experienced when he was reported to be hospitalized for an accident. Perhaps the cases should be tracked by the press to see whether Dr. Phil McGraw is handled in the same manner as the professionals in Clooney's case.

These ethical restrictions are the MINIMAL standards patients must be able to expect when they seek or are committed for medical and psychiatric care. Phil McGraw, as one public face of mental health care owes the Public and Britney Spears, a profound apology for these violations of her rights.

Whatever we may believe about Spears, she may also require care, as any of us, for issues that are, and should be, none of our damn business.
