Aiming at Obama's signature rhetoric, Clinton said what America needs is someone who can "actually deliver change" not "false hopes."

While the senator was vague, her campaign pointed out to ABC News examples of Obama's liberal positions. In 2004, Obama said he would vote to abolish mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes. "Mandatory minimums take too much discretion away from judges," Obama said in an NAACP debate.

The Clinton campaign also accused Obama of flip-flopping. They pointed to a statement Obama made in 2003 that he was "a proponent of a single-payer healthcare program." Obama is not calling for a single-payer plan now.

A spokesman for Obama called the charges false attacks.

For God's sake.
The USA has more people in prison as percentage of population and in pure numbers than any other country. More than the "terrible" North Korea or anyone.
Mandatory sentences and three strikes and you go to jail for life laws are cruel.
Judges should be able to make decisions.
Everyone likes to talk tough. They whistle another tune when thier feet of their relatives feet are held to the fire.
We have people in jail for life over petty ammounts of drugs while men who have stolen pensions from thousands or performed inhuman acts of cruelty get a couple years.
Current practices make socila dependants and leaches out of people who could be contributing members of society if they were treated right.
A lot of people get involved with drugs because they see no other hope, stupid as that may be.
They don't need to have their lives ruined.
Drug importers work hand in hand with the authorities and they all live well, street criminals go to jail.
Reagan's men financed the Contra wars with drugs..it is no secret. North should be in prison for life along with Noriega.
The state should decriminalize drugs to take the profit away from the fat cats like in Holland...but that ain't gonna happen.
There is too much money being made all around the infield.
Hillary just feels she needs to sound tough.

Hillary is self destructing IMO. Instead of strenghtening her ties to the Democratic base, she's moving farther to the right near the republicans. BIG MISTAKE and one that I cannot support. Hillary... show us your LIBERAL and PROGRESSIVE side, else join the republicons.

Obama Campaign Proves
Much Less White Prejudice
than Blacks Thought !
By: Greg Peace Song Jones

One of the most incredible things that has arisen through Barack Obamas campaign has been the vision of mass numbers of white people at each of the Obama rallys showing great love and support for this credible, intelligent, gifted, strong leader....who happens to also be black. It has been incredibly eye-opening and uplifting, and it, for the first time, shows us blacks that we have actually been wrong in our assumption that most whites are prejudiced toward us. Although you do have the exceptions to the rule, the fact is....most whites ARE NOT racist toward blacks. This is a very important revelation. VERY !!!

We, as blacks have held on to our injured history, which we rightfully feel was caused by whites, to such a degree that we have never had the opportunity to see or learn that the prejudiced attitudes of whites does not exist today like it had in the past.We knew that a lot of whites like black music. We knew that millions of white women love Oprah, but we thought that was just a 'woman thing'. But we had no idea, until now, that white people of all ages could be as supportive of a black candidate as they have shown in great mass. We, as blacks have been wrong !

Of course, we as blacks will have the specific cases of injustice and prejudice as displayed through examples like Jena 6, Genarlow Wilson, Katrina and the like....and specific cases like those should be dealt with accordingly. But we must not continue to allow certain negative occurances to misdirect our minds toward thinking that these negative examples speak for the entire white race. The majority of whites of today are actually on our side !

Obama's campaign has already won by proving that whites and blacks can not only get along....but can work TOGETHER...for us all. And guess what my black family....America IS ready !!!

While I admire her history as an advocate for children, what has Hillary done for us lately? She repeatedly supported Bush's War for Oil, and voted against legislation that would have enabled greater Congressional governance over Administration excesses and overreaching... Now she's basically endorsing the moribund 'manadatory minimum' sentencing policies that even a conservative Supreme Court has rendered too restrictive to judges at the trial level??? Gurl, you lost my vote!!! I'm voting for Obama...

Why doesn't Hillary bring up Obama's land deal scandal with fundraiser Tony Rezko? Probably because it will expose her ties to illegal Chinese money.

Down with negative adds. I want to know what they are going to do and how they plan to do it.
Which ones are going to bring back our Constitution and which ones like the changes, you know power is intoxicating, we were warn about to much power in one branch of government.

Gee I guess Hillary and Clinton are the only ones in the race. On NBC nightly news not a single mention of Edwards. On this post, not a single mention of Edwards, except for one post mentioning that the failed to congradulate Obama.
Hey Ariana, whatcha gonna do when Edwards takes New Hampshire, pretend that the whole state doesn't exist?

One other thought ... the nature of Hillary's assault on Obama is fundamentally different than the one John Edwards is using. Hillary's is straight out of Lee Atwater's fear and smear campaign strategy. It doesn't focus on real substantive issues, it appeals to our lizard brain, and it's designed to smother open discourse on the issues, not encourage it.

John Edwards, on the other hand, raises a legitimate issue: If Obama is indeed a change agent, why is he taking money form the same old rich and poweful folks who control Washington? If he is a change agent, why did he vote "present" on important legilsation which could have made change happen? Finally, what does change mean to Barak? Mumbled phrases and vague generalities should not be the basis of a presidential campaign. Barak needs to be specific about what he would change, how he would "bring us together" and why he has talked change, but walked the same-ol', same ol' path.

Hillary's 50 state plan is to morph herself into whatever political winds are blowing in each state.

Hillary has gone from fear mongering and pandering to extremely obnoxious - right before our eyes. Finally the public is waking up to one of this country's problems ... her. Bush in a dress. She is horrible.

No more Clinton-Bush regimes ever ... please.

Are we progressives or are we conservatives? Do we even know the difference?

Being a progressive on women issues does not make one a progressive when the substance on all the other important issues is mean-spirited.

And THAT is why I don't like Hillary.

Do you think Hill's people are reading this thread? I noticed what seemed to be an awful of...what would you call 'em? "Trollaries?"...yesterday.

Note to Hillary:

People repudiated you because you practiced the say-nothing, be-everything, to-everyone politics of the 20th Century.

Instead of slamming Obama, try telling us what you stand for. Are you against the war or not? Was it a mistake? Why did you vote for making Iran's military a terrorist org?

And here, of course, is the problem. These were cynically calcualted votes based on your perceived need to appear tough in order to become Pres, not votes made out of conviction, passion, or belief. Because you have none of the above.

Here's a hot flash for you: People don't want a spun dry, packaged political product. We want a real person.

It may be too late for you to try that, but it is your only hope.
