Aiming at Obama's signature rhetoric, Clinton said what America needs is someone who can "actually deliver change" not "false hopes."

While the senator was vague, her campaign pointed out to ABC News examples of Obama's liberal positions. In 2004, Obama said he would vote to abolish mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes. "Mandatory minimums take too much discretion away from judges," Obama said in an NAACP debate.

The Clinton campaign also accused Obama of flip-flopping. They pointed to a statement Obama made in 2003 that he was "a proponent of a single-payer healthcare program." Obama is not calling for a single-payer plan now.

A spokesman for Obama called the charges false attacks.

"It's not broken, why fix it?"

Obama's response to everything and would continue if he were POTUS. That's exactly why I am voting for John Edwards!! Obama would be a "don't rock the boat" type of POTUS and we don't need that here in sold out America!

Wow she really is running as a Republican. Imagine that a constitutional lawyer and a black man would stand up for defendants rights. We know that black men face harsher penalties for drug crimes.

I don't think this will play in NH or in SC.

For all of you Hillary supporter who think she's the best to beat a Republican, look at this:

This is what Hillary said at the Howard University Debate. It appears that she's against mandatory sentences too.

For instance, answering a question about disparities in the how whites and blacks are treated in the criminal justice system, Clinton said:

SEN. CLINTON: In order to tackle this problem, we have to do all of these things.
Number one, we do have to go after racial profiling. I've supported legislation to try to tackle that.

Number two, WE HAVE TO GO AFTER MANDATORY MINIMUMS. You know, mandatory sentences for certain violent crimes may be appropriate, but it has been too widely used. And it is using now a discriminatory impact.

Scouter deals for all!

No time for war profiteers, war criminals and those who committed crime against humanity. Just another way of taking impeachment off the table.

We learn as much about candidates by what they attack as by what they propose or defend. They should know this. Apparently, they do not know this.

Shades of Willy Horton campaigning. Play to peoples' fears. Her gut is just plain wrong, again, as it was when she voted to kill young Americans and Iraqis. Now she's using McCarthyite red-baiting (warmongerer Obama, pro unlimited free trader Obama "red" influenced? --give me a break) and trying to create fear that he's too liberal on prison sentences in a country that has the largest percentage of its people incarcerated of any country on earth.

It's time she is overwhelmingly defeated. We don't need another 4 or 8 years of reflex fear-mongering. She's just not her husband and given her instincts, world view and record, her election is more likely to be more reminiscent of these past 7 years than of the 1992-2000 period.

I hope she's sent to the dustbin of history, where she belongs, in NH. I'd like corporatist Obama sent there too.

Obama is right on this, but this is slam dunk. The real story here is why Hillary has the thought process of a Republican regarding Iraq, social justice, and whatever else she stumbles upon.Either she's getting bad advice and using poor judgement in following the advice or her true feelings are surfacing.I have followed Hillary for years after hearing her on the radio in Chicago on a morning talk show "Don and Roma".Don is a flat out rightwinger who started in Chicago radio on WLS 890 gay bashing, mostly to be a sensationalist and get his demographic of listeners.Roma is his wife,a fact she hid for a long time and acted like she was a liberal taking the opposite stand on Dons disgusting diatribes. One morning Hillary was their guest and I don't remember what the conversation was about but Don,who is an intelligent man thought he could make a fool of Hillary.Hillary handled Don in a such a manner that he just stopped his attack and shutup. She let him know he wasn't going to bully her and I had the utmost respect for her after that incident.Put that together with trying to pass Healthcare legislation she was a personal hero of mine. This past year has been such a disappointment watching her gravitate to the monied interests. To sell herself and her soul to these people that have no interest in anything but enriching themselves has caused her most fervent supporters to take a second look.I know I have, and I like what Edwards message is and I believe he is fervent in his cause. He's not changing his message to fit the audience. If this all comes to an end with Hillary getting the nomination,I'll vote for her with the hope somewhere inside her she'll rise to the occasion and be what I always thought she was.Voting for a Republican will never be an option,I don't care how many Bible verses some schmuck can recite,I wouldn't trust any religious person with our future.

It looks like Barack Obama has more desire for democratic society and middle class prosperity in the end of his fingernail than Mrs. Clinton does in her entire body.

O, Mrs. Clinton, please, step down, and let me be free of my mission to direct you to do it. I have much better things to do than to write these comments, which I feel obliged to write now, conducting the damage control, as you can cause the despicable amount of damage, if left unsupervised.

What is the problem with bringing up your opponents record to use against them if its warranted.. like voting "present" to avoid taking a stand on an issue so as not to leave a paper trail... I don't know about you but to me that shows taking the middle road and not getting involved... a very calculated move if nothing else...
Go negative on your opponent... sure why not.. look how great it worked against John Kerry when he was "swift boated" out of the last election. Of course the big problem with going negative against Obama is that his camp will start a chorus of racism at the first opportunity they have.... if he wrote in his book about using drugs and "blow" as he phrased it, then its legitimate to use that against him.... they certainly use everything that Hillary said in the past against her...its like he outed himself so does that mean it can't be repeated by others... just about everyone on this forum is ripping Hillary to shreds about everything she has ever said and done both as a first lady and elected senator, and about her husband, but not one word about her accomplishments in either capacity.. but not a word about Obama in his political career... could it be because he hasn't really done anything except take the middle of the road on just about every issue....
On a personal basis I don't much care for her myself, but that has nothing to do with who I think is a better qualified candidate to be president of the U.S. based on experience and toughness to deal with both America's friends and foes... Lets not make a mistake... This is not a personality contest.. nor should it be!!!

These attacks will backfire on both Edwards and Hillary.

Edwards has a lot of nerve trying to attack Senator Obama who got health care for 150,000 people in Illinois who were without. Let's see your statistics on how many you got healthcare for. (crickets...) I have always had real respect for John Edwards, but this business of trying to portray Obama as someone who can't stand up for the American people is simply devoid of fact and looking terribly desperate, if not hypocritical. Check the records. It's pretty easy to talk the talk. I haven't forgotten John Edwards' record in the Senate. And I sure haven't forgotten Hillary's ...

Hillary... not only has Obama stood up to the Republican machine.. he's stood up to your sorry Rove-esk sliming. But keep it up. The more you desperately try these tactics, the more the 'real you' is becoming evident to people who haven't been paying as much attention as I have. And as a 56 year old lifelong Democrat and feminist, all I can say is, you are a disgrace to both demographics.

Although I can't vote in your election next year,
I think that I would watch Obama like a hawk and
listen to every word he speaks.
You people who so want change here should be
feeling more opimistic now if you realize what really
happened in Iowa yesterday.
In 97.5% white Iowa, they voted for a man of
African American descent.
Many miles and a time zone not withstanding,I
thought that at last America was ready for change.
I hope so!

Way to go, Hillary. Always totally in touch. Let's push the imprisonment meme in the "live free or die" state. Man, her team is imploding.

Hillary's campaign staff appears to me to be a little on the "slow" side.

The nation has been forced to swallow what a Republican President and too many years of Republican control of the Congress have done to them, and they have found that they are neither better off in the present nor more confident in the future that the Republicans would inflict upon their children.

The genius behind Hillary's campaign's attempt to sound more Republican than Obama escapes me.

There's been a sea change in the American electorate and Hillary cannot formulate a new script at this late date. The Republicans are in the same dilemma. They used and abused the evangelistic vote and now it has taken on aspects of populism and come back to bite them in the ass.
