I Like ItI Don’t Like It
David Frum Terrified

NY Times:

As a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former speechwriter for President Bush, you're surprisingly critical of him in your new book, claiming he has appointed "consistently mediocre people" to important jobs and made "a shambles" of the Iraq war. Do you see the book as a mea culpa?

No. Mea culpa is a kind of hand-wringing, breast-beating, woe-is-me attitude that I don't share. What I am saying is that there is exhaustion, intellectual exhaustion on the part of Republicans and conservatives.

And that their long winning streak in Congress has ended?

What I am terrified of is that the Republican Party is heading into a period of political defeat. We lost the election in 2006. I am terrified that we can lose the election in 2008. We can lose in 2012, and it will take us half a dozen years to do the rethinking we need to do.

"Terrified? TERRIFIED?"

Of course Frum is terrified. He's a Bushie. It is their stock-in-trade. Selling terror is the ONLY thing they are good at. And here he is, selling MORE terror.

Why don't these ex-bushies repent by simply turning states evidence against their superiors? Anything coming out of their mouths or keyboards at this stage is meaningless unless they're under oath. Fuck you, Frum. Impeach the retarded codpieceboy NOW.

If Frummie had all these problems with his boss hiring incompetents, and screwing up Cheney's war to a fare-thee-well, then maybe he should have taken that AEI gig a little sooner. Instead, he drew the checks and saved his belly-aching to sell books. Funny how all these assbags grow integrity when they get away from that Chimp.

As a progressive liberal, it is hard to be "terrified" of the impotence that confronts the GOP. Horrified is a better term for me though I will say that I don't take them for granted either but luckily in their zeal to outflank Bush (save for the sanity of Ron Paul) the current contenders are preaching to an ever-dwindling congregation.

Actually, why did he choose the word "terrified"?

Shouldn't he be relieved that the sleepy Americans that voted in this administration are waking up from their foggy consumerist nap and realizing their complicity in this fiasco?

Of perhaps he's terrified that he knows a lot of people who could be going to jail?

These reactions are not those who have been mischaracterized or 'witch-hunted'. They are from people who should be legitimately 'terrifed' that they may go to prison.

Stay tuned, folks. There's much more than a Nixon waving bye from a helicopter. Nixon was not in handcuffs...

Uhhh..Frum, since your boy Georgie and the rethugs from 2000 to 2006 destroyed our great nation do you have any wonder why the current crop is NOT running on your typical rethug crap?

Being "terrified" is a prerequisite to listen to any of the neoconmen's b.s. So, it must be working if his work terrifies he, himself.

The problem with Conservatism is that some of the Conservative ideology actually makes good sense such as smaller Government and less taxes. However, the good ideas are far outweighed by the bad ideas, such as the idea that America should control the Middle East even if it means the unprovoked invasion of an innocent country on trumped up WMD charges.

America was swindled by the smooth talking neo-cons promising to put money back in your pocket. Unfortunately, while they were giving you cash for your pocket, they were robbing your house.

America is starting to wake up to the horrific nightmare that was the Bush Administration. It's sad really, because they actually had some good ideas...

Many if not all of Bush's neocon advisors have expressed regret, not necessarily for their advice to go after the Evil Ones but for the incompetence of the the Bush administration in pursuing their goals.

A longer and more informative article about them by David Rose in the Nov '06 Vanity Fair magazine can be read here: http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2006/12/neocons200612?currentPage=1

David Frum isn't half the man his mother was. He's a snotty kid with a new, and bad idea.
