Clinton Hits Obama On Abortion

AP:

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton criticizes rival Barack Obama's record on abortion rights in a mailing sent to New Hampshire voters _ her first direct attack on the Illinois senator since his victory in Iowa.

The mailer says that seven times during his time in the Illinois state Senate, Obama declined to take a position on abortion bills, while Clinton has been a defender of abortion rights.

During his eight years in the legislature, Obama cast a number of votes on abortion and received a 100 percent rating from the Illinois Planned Parenthood Council for his support of abortion rights, family planning services and health insurance coverage for female contraceptives. He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive, a vote that especially riled abortion opponents.

Personally I think everyone one of us who claims to be a Democrat had better wake the hell up and real fast!!!! Obama, God bless him, CAN'T WIN!!! As an African-American it's not that I don't think America is ready for a president who is Black or a Woman. The real issue here is that this country is going to be faced with huge problems on all fronts when Bush leave the white house. Are we really going to believe that Obama, the Junior Senator from Illinois is going to have the experience and knowledge to fix this mess?? Do you think for one minute that after the republicans get their hands on him and start re-defining who he is, that america, given what it is going to be faced with is going to place their confidence in him?

The Corporate owned and operated media loves the fact that so many Democrats and Independents are lining up behind Obama and not Hillary. If Obama knocks off Hillary the republicans will win the white house and it will be business has usual given the slim majority that the Democrats whole on congress. Democrats need to think about Obama's message and then take a deep breath and look at who he is referring to when he states he can reach out and bring republicans together with Deomcrats. Do ya think Hatch, Bonner, Graham and the rest of those scumbag republicans are gong to play nice with Obama for the good of the country? HELL NO!! and that's assumming he even wins, which is highly unlikely.

Progressive radio, news print and bloggers will benefit from 2008 elecetion loss to the republicans. I can see it now, the phone lines will be filled, Democrats will be blogging like madmen and buying subscription like crazy to ease their broken hearts over another loss election. We had better start thinking about winning first and getting our hands on power before we end up like Karl Rove wants us..A minority party forever!!!!

I can't say whether I'm happier about voters showing that they recognize a fascist takeover and reject it or that they are ready to look beyond the color a man's skin.

I was ready to vote for Shirley Chisholm way back when but it is truly rewarding to see America evolving and now ready to support progressive populism and multiculturalism.

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!!!!!!...THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!!!!!!

DOES EVERYONE SEE THAT THE HUFFINGTON POST HAS A PICTURE OF CLINTON POSED AS HITLER ON THE FRONT PAGE?! IS THIS WHAT THE IDEALISM OF OBAMA IS ALL ABOUT?

Sorry for the shouting, but HuffPo has hit the bottom of the barrel on this one. I see now that Obama is all about a "different" kind of politics. Not!

look i'm a pro-choice guy, but i can't for the life of me understand why this is some new and hot political button. there are sooooo many pressing issues to tackle and we are here again pondering a question of choice? why doesn't she just attack him on something like caving in on universal health care, or voting for us to go to war....er uhhh....wait a minute...that was her....my bad.

It's hard to tell the headline writers from the trolls on this site. Why all the dem bashing? All the Dem candidates would make good presidents, unlike the Republicon freaks. You do want Dems to win, right? Jeesh

I thought the trolls were saying their prayers to the repig Jeebus for Hillary to win so they could kick ass in November. Why so anxious to see her go down now?

Could it be that you're all just nuts? hehe

The Huff Post looks like an active anti-Hillary site- from your Fox-like teased headlines to the seriously unflattering pix you post of her. I'm surprised and disappointed. I do want change - I WANT A WOMAN PRESIDENT and I'm going to vote for the first completely qualified, viable candidate we've ever had- Hillary Clinton. I fully realise that most republicans, some independents and apparently the Huff Post will support a man- a black man, or plaid man or short man or fat man, any man, instead.

HUFFPO....HAVE SOME SHAME!! For crying out loud! I'm sure Arianna doesn't know this is happening, or she would put a stop to it, right now!

Your headline says, "Clinton falsifies Obama's Abortion Record" but then you link to the AP story, which doesn't say anything about falsification. All is says is, "Clinton criticizes Obama on Abortion."

If you're going to link to AP stories, DON'T MAKE UP HEADLINES ABOUT WHAT THE STORY DOESN'T EVEN MENTION.

The harder the Clintons hit Obama, the more they reinforce the impression that all their campaign is about is a grubby struggle to keep their power in the Democratic Party. Many Obama voters I spoke with in Iowa like Hillary personally but resent this sense of entitlement.

Unfortunately, the Obamington Post will do absolutely anything to elect Obama, even lie through their teeth.

It's clear that Arianna Huffington, a decent humorous columnist, hates the Clintons with the usual MSM deep, unrational hatred. Maybe, as other posters have noted, Bill declined to do her.

Personally, I'd love to see Edwards or Hillary win. After all, they're both more liberal, and feisty, than Mr. Churchy Bipartisanship who wants 'industry to have a seat at the table,' and has a disturbing tendency to skip key votes where he might actually have to take a stand.

And it's not like Obama didn't go negative on Edwards THE SECOND he saw JE's poll numbers climb prior to the Iowa caucuses (which are decidedly wierd, and neither primary nor poll).

So please, spare us the comic book pseudo-journalism Ms. Huffington. It's unseemly, and it embarrasses you - or should.

How do you like the Clinton/Hitler photo that HuffPo has attached to this "news piece". Go back and take a look at the front page, the picture of Hillary shows her as Hitler. This is definitely the lowest HuffPo has gone.

Any one else think that this might be a way to make Obama defend his abortion rights record and turn off the pro-life independents?

I am not a fan of Hillary by any means. But this Hitleresque Hillary picture contrasted with Obama with a circle motif on top of his head is a bit much. Fluffpo is becoming political tabloid.

That said, I think Hillary's move with this 7 "present" votes is pathetic because they were in line with broader Democratic party's decision in Illinois. However, my thinking is that Hillary wants Obama to come out and say I am pro abortion and therefore make him less electable to moderates or to the likes of republicans or independents who switched and voted for Obama.

Yesterday's main headline. Obama up 12% over Hillary in NH.
Today 3%. Looks like someone has a political agenda.

I hope Obama and Edwards destroy Clinton. Clinton represents the worst part of the Democratic party, the DLC "centrists" who are willing to sell itself to corporate interests.
It'll be nice to see a Obama/Edwards ticket. Screw Clinton.
