Mccain Thousand Iraq Years

Think Progress:

Last week, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said it "would be fine with" him if the U.S. military stayed in Iraq for "a hundred years" or even a "million years."...

...on CBS's Face the Nation, McCain claimed that Americans would not be "concerned" if the U.S. spends "10,000 years" in Iraq:

The point is it's American casualties. We've go to get American's off the frontlines, have the Iraqis as part of the strategy, take over more and more of the responsibilities, and then I don't think Americans are concerned if we're there for one hundred years or a thousand years or ten thousand years.

I wish somebody would explain to McCain that it isn't JUST the pointless deaths of our finest young people, it is also the other things that we could be buying with the wasted money...things such as a basic human right to medical care, things that CIVILIZED societies already have. Moving our young people the bleep out of Iraq would solve BOTH of those problems, if only we get a congress that isn't in the pockets of the military-industrial complex. Eisenhower said something to the effect that every weapon we buy from the MIC takes food out of the mouths of hungry people....too bad nobody listened..

Mc Cain, perhaps unintentionally, makes the point that Americans are complacent about our dealings in foreign afairs however nefarious..as long as our people ,our troops..arent harmed.
He is right.Americans have been dumbed dumb to accept our status as bullies and corporate tyrannists..we just dont like to lose.People, included.
I still think McCains campaign has been a deliberate act of sabotage against the gop..he is like S. Colbert..only..maybe not intentionally.

I won't be concerned if we send McCain to Iraq for 10,000 years. He could take someone else place.

It doesn't matter whether we are on the front lines or not... not when those we are arming and training are killing our soldiers while conducting joint operations... personally, it's time to get out and let the Iraqi's socially evolve on their own.

McCain is obviously going senile.... and doesn't actually know many Americans.

Since when does he speak for the masses... saying we don't care where our troops are stationed - as long as they aren't getting killed?

What an arrogant old fuck.

I agree with many of you who are pointing out that Ole' John has stripped a gear by "saying" this in the midst of a Presidential Campaign, but, please consider:

As one poster pointed out "who is he talking to?" that allow him to form these opinions. John IS NOT living in isolation (a certainty in the midst of a Presidential Race), he is out there, talking to AMERICANS daily, who are likely feeding these ideas that he is expressing.

Also, why would he NOT think this? I'm sure he must look at what we have, and continue to allow Bush to do, and likely thinks "If he can get away with all this, why would anyone care if I simply maintained the status quo?"

This past two weeks, the economy moved ahead of Iraq in the polls as the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE in this campaign. There are candidates, on both sides, offering to support "near" immediate withdrawal of our Military. Those candidates are universally in the "second tier".

I live in Arizona, where Mr. McCain hails from. I happen to know a lot of his supporters, and a lot of die hard Repubs, and a lot of Military personnel/contractors/Government Service people. Believe me, none of them would mind if we stayed in Iraq.

This is why WE ALL need to get involved! We need to devote ourselves to supporting the most progressive candidates we can find for the offices that are up for election THIS YEAR. We need to push the ship back to the LEFT and get America back on course. I've seen it done here, in one of the most conservative districts in a conservative state. We elected Gabrielle Giffords to replace the Queen Republican Himself (Jim Kolbe) when he stepped down, and she trounced a RABID Right-winger to take the seat.

It can be done! Put the Republicans and the DLC where they belong. Out of Politics!

"Old soldiers never die, they just fade away."

Good.
Be well, John.
Now fade away.

How about erecting a giant statue of McCain embracing Liberman in downtown Baghdad that Iraqi's can piss on for the next few million years?
