New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has quietly been polling and conducting a highly sophisticated voter analysis in all 50 states as he decides whether to launch an independent presidential bid, associates said Wednesday.

The exhaustive data collection started months ago, and when the review begins shortly, it will provide the data-obsessed billionaire businessman with the information he will use to decide whether to make a third-party run for the White House.

This is your democratic Bloomberg stifling protesters during republican convention for their benefit.

documents suggest officials indeed were motivated by political concerns over how protests would play out while the Republican delegates were in town, and how the events could affect the mayor's re-election campaign the following year.

Cool!

I will not vote for Obama or Hillary. If Obama or Hillary gets the Dem nomination and Bloomberg runs on a Bloomberg/Hagel ticket, I will seriously consider voting for that Independent party ticket!

Bloomberg wants to get Hilary elected the way Perot got Bill elected.

Hilary doesn't have enough independents to win. Bloomberg will make sure that inependents go to him thereby making it possible for Hilary to win with less than 50 per cent of the vote.

What will Hilary have to do for Bloomberg in return? That is the question, if you ask me.

Let's make a deal.

When mister "full of cash and very large ego" finally decides to officially commit himself to the race, then let us know. Until then just ignore him.

He has been "seriously considering" a bid for months just to see his name mentionned in the "news".

Please spare us this crap.

Here's Bloomberg's calculus:

1. If Obama wins, Bloomberg doesn't run. Obama would suck up too much oxygen in the middle of the political spectrum that would be Bloomberg's primary oxygen.
2. If Hillary and Huckabee win their respective nominations, Bloomberg runs for sure.
3. If Hillary wins and Romney, McCain or Rudy wins the Republican nomination, Bloomberg thinks twice...tough call...i'd bet he goes for it!

For Bloomberg, it's all about the cards that will be dealt after Super Tuesday. He's got to have enough "room" in the middle of the spectrum to operate because he does not want to be a spoiler.

Well I guess the super rich power elite need to have their own candidate. What a joke, does he really think people will vote for him. Hmmm,
well since they control who counts the vote maybe he's as good as in.

The anger I will feel if this prick gets into the race will be palpable. I am certain I will join those who will work to destroy his chances in any way possible.

I've been Nadered once, but never again.

Bloomberg Billionaire. Just what this country needs, another spokesperson for the elite.

The poor struggling elite, who need more tax cuts for themselves and their corporations, so they can build more fortified walls and towers around their villas, and hire mercenaries to protect them from the hungry masses swirling around outside.

Just what this country needs, someone else from Wall Street who will continue the foreign policies that are bankrupting our nation.

Bloomberg should be honest and run as a Republican. I don't think the people will fall for another LieBerman.

There are certain races that he might win. For example, Hillary/Huckabee. Bloomberg probably stands a good chance.

In addition to the actual race, a lot would depend on the polling data. If people polled well for Bloomberg, you could see a lot of people taking a chance and voting third party not worrying about putting someone in that they detest by default. I personally wouldn't do anything that would potentially put another "social" conservative jesus freak in office. However, if the choice was HIllary/Huckabee and BLoomberg polling at 35-40%, I would take the risk and actually pull the lever for him.

Probably the most important action would could perform in this country to ensure a viable third party run would be to put in place majority requirement for election, i.e. a runoff in states where there was plurality and not a majority.

Bloomberg is more a democrat than a republican, so his candidacy would most likely hurt the democratic nominee.
WHAT IS HE THINKING????
Does he want to be the next Ralph Nader? In other words, does he want to be the most hated man in American politics? Consider: with all the good Ralph Nader did in his career as a consumer advocate, the second line of his obituary will describe his 2000 3rd party candidacy for President, and how he helped deliver the electoral college victory to George Bush. Fair (I think it is) or not, THAT is what he will be remembered for.
Bloomberg will never, ever, ever win the presidnecy as a 3rd party candidate. He will be nothing but a spoiler. If anyone out there knows this man personally, and likes him, PLEASE talk him out of this. Friends don't let friends launch 3rd party presidential races!!
