Bloomberg Unity

New York Daily News:

A source familiar with the Bloomberg for president movement says the bipartisan Unity08 effort is poised to shut down its Web site, reconstitute as a Draft Bloomberg site and launch its own 50-state signature-gathering operation on behalf of the supposedly reluctant would-be independent presidential candidate. This move has been apparently been approved by the Bloomberg people.

I'm told Unity08 has $1.4 million in the bank and about 124,000 people signed up on its site. I have tried - so far unsuccessfully - to reach a spokesperson for the organization.

Funny how once the Republicans have done their best to completely screw this country up, and now all of a sudden everyone's talking about unity and bipartisanship. F that. It's time for them to go back to the minority where they belong and stay there for a good long time.

There is no rationale for his candidacy. The two top Dems are already DLCers.

Unless he were going to go back and run to save the Republican Party from itself, there is no point unless he wants to aggrandize himself.

At least the three top minor parties, the Green, Libertarian and Constitutional Parties have ideological differences and reasons to run.

Perot had the deficit, to his credit he made as big issue as his basic insanity.

There is no reason for Bloomberg to run. Isn't being Mayor of the biggest city in America and the defacto capitol city of the world enough?

If Mrs Clinton is the candidate, Bloomberg has a chance. The Reagan coalition is breaking up. The moderate/liberal Republicans are being purged from those who want an ideologically pure GOP. The result is that there are many voters who find Mrs Clinton a bridge too far too cross. Bloomberg represents a safe harbor.

Bloomberg started life as a Dem, really became a Republican because the slate was full and with 9/11 became the beneficiary of fate. He is a self made billionaire. As such, he is not on a fool's mission. The rich don't stay rich by being spoilers. He has perceived a pathway to success. So far his business instincts have not failed him.

If by some quirk Huckabee ends up on the GOP ticket and Clinton on the Dems, there will be a huge demand for a different direction than what the parties are offering. This is all tentative but plans have to be made now. Unity is offering to do the grunt work of getting on the ballot in all 50 states--no mean feat in itself. It may very well be needed.

Dividing the country still more under the guise of "unity," these fools stay quiet during the 8 years of Bush's roughshod ride over America's ideals and freedoms, and now they pop their heads up like a pack of whack-a-moles to say, "let's all play nice now."

Hell no.

The only thing Bloomberg and his cadre of assclowns will do if we give them even a second look is to ensure another republican in the white house come november.

You know I really believe our elderly politicians are worried about young people taking the limelight. Especially a young, extremely bright half-Black, HALF-WHITE MAN. This is really getting good! All of you have fuc...up. You've been around for over 20 years, most of you, and done nothing but set-up for wars.. I once quit a job because a younger woman got more attention than I. Quit. Got out of the kitchen. You'll just make fools out of yourselves With This One, (Obama) You cannot control the votes. And not after the N.H. debacle. We know. Obama is so gracious. If you want to make it better; join him. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Uhh, a recent poll of New Yorkers didn't even want Bloomie for president. He can change affiliation (months ago) but he is still a republican.

I wonder what Sam Waterston has to say about this? Instead of actually having a chance to have a real third voice, once again it's money and power.

From a almost purely entertainment point of view I'd love to see a Bloomberg/Paul vs Gore/Kucinich show-down. Who ever would win would probably never be assassinated.
