Roseanne Barr has published a profane rant on her website attacking Barack (misspelled "Barak") Obama as a supporter of "corporate racist anti worker bullshit." Barr also tears into Oprah Winfrey, who allegedly "plays the race card and the gender card" and is a "closeted republican."

Read an excerpt:

barak obama is an empty suit selling "hope" in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their "fair share" of Cali tax. Oprah has given us Swartzenegger and Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope, while calling Unions "special interest groups" that need to be done away with.

Obama votes with Bush constantly funding this terrible endless war.

Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too.

You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting!

When Americans find out that Obama backs right wing corporate racist anti worker bullshit, they will not vote for him, and the victory will go to the most racist right wing republican ever.... Mccain, who is a fascist!

For what it's worth, Barr praises Hillary Clinton as a "seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience" and John Edwards as "pro union."

Hey Roseanne,

You look hot. I agree with you but I have to vote for the dude because he can beat the repuke. Hillary is too polarizing. She be hot too. But Joe SixPack won't vote for her. I despise Oprah. The most disengenuous person whoever lived.

Just announced, Roseanne made public apology to Oprah and said she got caught up in the fact that she is a Hillary supporter and wanted to speak up on her behalf!!!!

There you have it, Roseanne has endorsed Hillary.

Obama supporters must be worried and mothers in Americia must be proud of the example being set for future women in our society.

Dear Ms. Barr,

As an Edwards supporter and as an American, I must profess to you my thanks for your so-called rant on your blog. Perhaps it was not eloquent, and for such you are being derided today all over the media, but I know that it was heartfelt and perhaps more importantly right on the money.

Mr. Obama is getting points for style but on substance he is being given a pass. At best he is naive and at worst he is a dangerous tool. To believe that we as progressive Liberals can work with Republicans is sheer folly. Nothing in my experience as an adult lends credence to such a statement. When we worked with the Republicans we got NAFTA and the shaft on healthcare. Men like John Bolton write books entitled "Surrender is Not an Option." Mr. Bolton may be the extreme but men like Mitch McConnell are no different. Mr. Obama is an appeaser and appeasement holds no luxury for working class Americans.

I hope that you will continue to rage against the machine of corporatist politics.

Your sincerely,

Charles Lemos

You only have to listen to Obama to know that he is a corporatist. He says he wants to bring the corporations to the table and negotiate. His defenders claim that this shows he's a uniter. Hooey. By definition if you want to negotiate with corporation what you are saying is that I accept the status quo. Corporations govern our government, our politics, and our economy and Obama wants to perpetuate this status quo by negotiating with them. We need a fighter. Someone that will take on the corporation and enforce the Sherman anti-trust laws. Someone that is willing to break up corporate monopolies on healthcare and media. Obama is not that person. John Edwards is.

Perhaps not eloquent, but spot-on dead-on correct.
Apparently and thankfully, Ms. Barr is not fooled and neither am I. Obama is at best naive, at worst is a dangerous tool.

Yeah, because we all look to Roseanne for advice on who to vote for.

Clinton has 35 years of experience? As what, First Lady? She's only been in elected office for one and a third terms.

Editor, political organizer, legal scholar, state legislator, senator--can a Hillary supporter please explain exactly what is lacking in Obama's experience? An empty suit? The guy is an expert on Constitutional Law. Is that expertise not something the U.S. now desperately needs from its leader in the wake of the Bush Administration?

Hillary, for all her supposed experience, hasn't been right on much about the Iraq War, whereas Obama has been spot-on about everything. So much for the empty suit tag.

It is indeed ironic that America's "first black president," Bill Clinton (the main from Hope who's campaigning against hope), is trying to keep Obama from becoming America's first black president.

Four—or eight—more years of the contrived Clinton political machine? I think the country has had enough. I know I have...

Bring on the wild tirades. The Democrats better cut this guy loose or we'll all be under Republican rule for another 4 years. Don't kill the messenger and if somebody with a high school education can figure it out shows that the "highly educated" need to start looking ahead to November and the mess they'll leave this country in by nominating another vacuous, corporate puppet who will not win against a Republican.

Many on the right say Obama is too liberal and Roseanne Barr says he is not liberal enough. Well, I think Obama can continue his good work without worrying too much that he has lost the coveted Roseanne Barr endorsement.

This post brings to mind the exit polls coming out of Iowa and New Hampshire that show voters with higher education are voting for Obama, and the voters with a high school education or less are going for Clinton. Here's the link to the HuffPo article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/08/new-hampshire-exit-polls_n_80565.html

Rosie is clearly very smart and very funny, but her argument shows a lack of critical thinking skills and education that she may have lacked due to her tragic childhood circumstances. This is an important post because it brings to light the kind of half-truth reasoning and emotionalism that so many Americans use in picking their president. It is how we got the one we have now. We wanted someone we could feel comfortable with who didn't make us feel threatened by intellectual discourse, who fed us emotional arguments instead of truth. That little indulgence has been a disaster for our country. So how did we get this way?

Lacking critical thinking skills makes us more likely fall prey to false analogies and associations, to take things out of context, and fall for the standard propaganda techniques like name-calling, argument to authority, false choices, etc., and be especially vulnerable to emotional arguments.

So to avoid being played by any candidate, or sudden revelation in a blog or comment post, I urge everyone, regardless of your candidate or your level of education, to do educate yourself on these techniques.

Here is a great link to start with:

http://library.thinkquest.org/C0111500/proptech.htm

It is going to take some work, but we are all going to have to dig in here and help each other get the facts, and reward good critical thinking when we see it, not trash each other as though it were a rivalry. If you have less education you are more at risk, but there is much you can do. Let’s bury our divisions and take responsibility to make sure we only deal in good information.

Together, we won’t get fooled again.

Why don't we just change that name of this website to Obabma Post? "Rosanne's Wild Tirade"!? You're no better than the mainstream media...headlining with commentary. BTW, many of the people who access this site for liberal commentary are Clinton fans.
