Stewart vs. Matthews Round 2: Jon Calls Chris Insane

Last fall Chris Matthews appeared on the "Daily Show" to promote his book Life's A Campaign. During a painful interview, Stewart called the book "a recipe for sadness" and wildly disagreed with its contents for several minutes. Matthews in turn exclaimed, "This is the book interview from hell! This is the worst interview I've ever had in my life!"

Last night on "The Daily Show" a writerless Stewart played a clip of MSNBC's Matthews and sidekick Keith Olbermann making Lawrence of Arabia metaphors to describe Hillary Clinton the night of the New Hampshire primary. He then mocked it with a metaphor of his own. If you can't watch the clip, know that it ends with Stewart saying of Matthews, "That guy is insane."

After a clip from MSNBC's New Hampshire coverage, during which Chris Matthews gives a lengthy analogy about Hillary Clinton and Lawrence of Arabia, Jon Stewart called Chris Matthew "insane". He's trying to impress Olbermann, though I swear Olbermann's doing a "double-take", he thinks Tweety's losing it.

Nothing against Lawrence...he was gay.
And Tweety can't seem to quit Delay.

"Now you know the rest of the story."

I agree with Jon's assessment. However I disagree with the poster calling Keith Olbermann a "sidekick." KO has been the only MSM person kicking Bush in the teeth and has been doing it for years.

I'm glad Jon Stewart is back. The last few months have been excruciating without him.

There's a reason why Chris Matthews was recognized as the "Misinformer of the Year"

He just told a couple of guests, after thanking them for coming on his show: "You seem like real people."

It seems to me that it is an insult to call Keith Olbermann a "sidekick" of Chris Matthews. Olbermann is a great deal swifter and more meticulous.

Matthews is often cringe worthy, but the typically friendly Stewart was a sanctimonious, over-caffeinated freak when he "interviewed" Matthews last fall. It was ugly. He apologized the following night because he recognized that. And for what it's worth, although he can be a little flat-footed in his expression, Matthews attempt to take the long historical view of the mess in Iraq is at least that--an attempt.

To all of you frothing at the mouth about how much Chris Matthews irritates you when you watch him, here's a suggestion: DON'T WATCH HIM!

In the world of "news info-tainment", ratings rule. If you just don't watch him, his numbers go down, and he gets relegated to begging fox "news" for a job.

The last time I saw him on purpose was when he appeared on "The Daily Show".

Watching him is like lecturing an alcoholic on his drinking, while giving him money for booze.

Jonboy Stewart still making fun of the kids on the short bus. Mathews watched Lawrence of Arabia recently and makes reference for whose benefit? Pundit or comedy routine? You decide.

You have to admit if you avoid him until he appears on the Daily Show in a clip or interview, he makes a great straight man. The Bud Abbot of politics is he. His nuts are numb and wits are dim but Jon sure likes making fun of him.

What's Chris Matthews' appeal? He's not even a right-winger like Hannity, O'Reilly or Beck, who give conservative white males an excuse to be jerks. He just interrupts people, breaks down discussions into guttural noises and nonsense and allows John McCain to cling to the myth he's a straight-talker.

I guess people think he's nice (in person) so they keep coming back to be on his show (or just to be on TV). But I swear there are times when even though my TV is on mute I can still hear him shouting.

I will tell you people, I have never been a fan of Matthews, but he is the only one that is still asking the question, "how could all the polls have been wrong on only the Clinton and Obama race and all the rest right on target????

Say what you will about Matthews and his choice of words, but right now he is a man on a mission to find out what happened with the polls and the votes in the Clinton/Obama race.

Go to www.bradblog.com and scroll through every detail of every article to find out what has been happening in our country while we have all been in our manipulated sleep!!!

You will have a better understanding of the Senator Kerry and Senator Nelson endorsements today!!

Maybe Chris Matthews will be our hero in the mainstream media by getting to the bottom of the story!

Olbermann is nobody's sidekick-- he's our generation's Edward R. Morrow--- metaphors should always be used in commenting on respective candidates---- Hillary can be compared to the great Chekov protaganists--- Bill to someone out of Dickens-- Brian Williams; he metaphorically reminds me of Jimmy Stewart--- and Chris- to a cross between Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia and W.C. Fields. Ha!!

How about the video of Hillary pinching Matthew's cheek and treating him as seriously as a 3-year-old brat?
