Stewart vs. Matthews Round 2: Jon Calls Chris Insane

Last fall Chris Matthews appeared on the "Daily Show" to promote his book Life's A Campaign. During a painful interview, Stewart called the book "a recipe for sadness" and wildly disagreed with its contents for several minutes. Matthews in turn exclaimed, "This is the book interview from hell! This is the worst interview I've ever had in my life!"

Last night on "The Daily Show" a writerless Stewart played a clip of MSNBC's Matthews and sidekick Keith Olbermann making Lawrence of Arabia metaphors to describe Hillary Clinton the night of the New Hampshire primary. He then mocked it with a metaphor of his own. If you can't watch the clip, know that it ends with Stewart saying of Matthews, "That guy is insane."

After a clip from MSNBC's New Hampshire coverage, during which Chris Matthews gives a lengthy analogy about Hillary Clinton and Lawrence of Arabia, Jon Stewart called Chris Matthew "insane". "Even the Exit Polls showed that Obama should have won, according to Chris Matthews on Hardball today. It's the first specific indication that we've seen that the raw, unadjusted Exit Poll data, which only corporate mainstream media folks, not mere mortals, are allowed to see, confirmed all of the pre-election polling which predicted an Obama win."

CHRIS MATTHEWS: So what accounts for Hillary Clinton's victory in New Hampshire? What we don't know is why the victory is so much different in fact, then the polling ahead of time, including what we call the Exit Polls were telling us. Obama was ahead in those polls by an average of 8 points, and even our own Exit Polls, taken as people came out of voting, showed him ahead. So what's going on here?

Matthews, a retard, a slobbering, chortling savant trying to express a idiotic opinion and therefore create the news in his image. Not unlike Billo, just with a different fingernails on the chalkboard approach to "reporting", and I really use the term very loosely, the news.

I watched that when it aired. Stewart ripped him a new one.

I watched with curiosity how Matthews would react post NH. The guy is like Paris Hilton after getting out of jail.

It took him all of 1/2 hour to start chopping and attacking Hillary. E.g., called her showing emotion a "performance," that her "performance" was good [that implies she was faking it.]

Then when seeing that MSM was going with "How did the pollsters get it wrong" he grabs a hold of that too, blaming the pollsters.

He basically said pollsters should get it right because "we" [meaning him] rely on the information.

What an asshat. He is clearly delusional. The only reason he looked like he was about to be hit by a car on NH election night was because he was one of the ones [main ones, by the way] who was dancing on Hillary's grave for the past days just before the election.

Of course, he did not rely on pollsters when leveling his personal attacks against Clinton. E.g., when he used to focus and make fun of Clinton's laugh, her clapping and her wearing pant suits, and labeling her display of emotion as crying.

Chris Matthews truly is Paris Hilton post-jail-time in disguise. Maybe not though, because I think Paris behaved herself for more than 18 hours.

Sidenote: Why did Matthews appear on Stewart's show? Is he that stupid or desperate? He had to know Stewart would stomp on him like the piece of sheet he is.

I don't know how Matthews keeps his gig. Between that annoying guffaw and the way he talks over his guests. Ban the personal pronouns and he becomes Boo Radley.

I used to watch Matthews, Lou Dobbs and all the idiots on fox news when I first got cable until I finally woke up and realised they were all nuts. I do not watch much news on TV. The only ones I watch all the time are Obermann and Jon Stewart.

Unfortunately, that is the line they are using to raise Obama to the top. He's just like Martin Luther King although he never protested anything, never struggled for anything, never really gought for anything except the Presidency. He can "talk the talk", but his voting record does not show him standing up for anything. His "present" votes on women's reproductive rights in Illinois were convenient. His campaigning with Donnie McClurkin, the ex-gay, anti-gay zealot, really bothers me. That was just last October. He's using his preacher voice which says nothing except "lift your spirit". Where are his true beliefs thats he's willing to stand up for? When he's not preaching, he's got an arrogant manner.

Very, very funny. If only Matthews could have been called out on this stuff ten years ago...

Riff-Raff!!

That's who CM is starting to remind me of as hair starts to thin and fall out.

Makes me wonder just what would happen to Sean Hannity and Chris Matthews if either of them couldn't use the words "I think" on air.

Every day he becomes more and more of a sad old Irish drunk burping up inane comments.

Olbermann looked very uncomfortable and pained sharing the camera with Tweety. Tweety should have been nominated as The Worst Person in the World.

The most entertaining moments of MSNBC's coverage Tuesday was the spectacle of Brian Williams and Keith Obermann trying repeatedly and unsuccessfully to rein in the ever-clueless Chris Matthews.

It's no wonder Matthews is so out of touch. He doesn't learn because he's not listening. Ever. He is a loudmouth serial interrupter so enraptured by the dialog in his own head that he can't or won't hear what others are saying.

Love it, love it, love it -- I've been crabbing about Chris Matthews for over three years now and I'm so glad that he has finally becoming the object of discussion. He really does need to go.

Insane is only half of the equation. If this guy (Matthews) isn't drinking or taking mind-altering drugs, then he has serious cognitive challenges.
