Young Evangelicals' Embrace Of Huckabee Threatening To Divide Christian Conservatives

Huckabee Evangelicals

New York Times:

Much of the national leadership of the Christian conservative movement has turned a cold shoulder to the Republican presidential campaign of Mike Huckabee, wary of his populist approach to economic issues and his criticism of the Bush administration's foreign policy. But that has only fired up Brett and Alex Harris.

The Harris brothers, 19-year-old evangelical authors and speakers who grew up steeped in the conservative Christian movement, are the creators of Huck's Army, an online network that has connected 12,000 Huckabee campaign volunteers, including several hundred in Michigan, which votes Tuesday, and South Carolina, which votes Saturday.

I also will vote for Obama if he gets the nomination but if doesn't I certainly would not vote that idiot huckleberry hound, it would be a cold day in hell if I actually believed in hell before that would happen. I would vote for Clinton if she gets the nomination and those of you who would switch to the huckster are just plain deluding yourselves. He would be the biggest disaster the country has ever seen,I think even worse than bush

Bloggers are selling Huckabee short - he is being accused of being "liberal" by his fellow Republicans - and too much of a "humanitarian" on the immigration issue. That moves him from the right to the center and makes him mainstream to most Americans.

Unfortuantely, EWTN (Catholic news network) is definitely not endorsing Obama - he's out and they are making that choice clear on the airwaves. They haven't made a flat out decision on Clinton. They love Huckabee.

You can make fun of that if you want but --- Catholics are 40% of Americans and Evangelical Protestants are another 30%. People who don't believe in anything and don't affliate with a religion are the minority in America. Politicans can't ignore them and still get elected. Democrats can't afford to ignore them either.

Why is it that so many teen and 20-something male Christians seem gayer than a Christmas goose? Must have something to do with how hot Jesus looks hanging half-naked up on that cross.

19-year-old speakers? What the fuck do they have to say?

If you do nothing else, make it a point never to take advice about your life from a 19-year-old.

And Jesus said, "Love thine neighbor as you would have him love you." "What so ever you do to the least of your brother, you do unto Me."

What Jesus didn't say, "Kill thine neighbor, even if you think he less than you."

Which Jesus does Huck espouse? #1 or #2?

EVILgelicals would say #1 and resort to #2 for character guidance when it comes to throwing stones.

Now, what say Huckabee on the illegal, immoral and unjustified occupation that continues to take the lives of far less fortunate than he?

"SUFFER!"?
