Huckabee Constitution God

Raw Story:

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Well, Hillary tears up; and the crack US "news" media cannot flap their jaws enough. THERE'S NO CRYING IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
Of course, Romney cries all over Tim Russert with yawns and shrugs all 'round.
Obama is ragged on for being honest; can't have that, in a campaign, all statements must be canned and self serving!
Edwards can't be a genuine populist; he's wealthy. not to the manor born, his Horatio Alger story is ignore or ridiculed.
Now, the wonderful Mike Huckabee advocates a FAITH BASED CONSTITUTION; and, we have to search the Internet to get any real reporting on this incredibly important developemnt. I know he is pandering to the knuckle draggers in S. Carolina; but, isn't this more news worthy than Hillary's tears, Obama's straight talk or Edwards' people's campaign.
Not in the USA of today; the media decided long ago to go for the lowest common denominator; and, they're sticking to it! If not for the Internet, we'd all be nearly as ignorant as the slack jawed yokels who listen to Rush and his ilk, and watch Fox Fake News!
Jeez!

I don't think that having a person waiting for the apocalypse, who thinks thats the way to get to heaven, should be in charge of nuclear weapons. If he kills us all, he might think he's doing us a favor.

shoot, does this mean they're gonna start sacrificing rams on the white house lawn to stave off our social and economic woes? Oh boy, lets not only eliminate evolution, lets go right ahead and set the world back a few thousand years.

Anybody tell Ol' Huck that the President doesn't get to change the Constitution? Sounds like he missed that Civics class in Middle School! Somebody should tell him that the "Democrat" Congress might have something to say about it, right?

Also, I wonder who told him how many Republicans were going to be left in Congress after '08? And, '12? And, '16? If God told him he'd have much support for his fantastic changes it looks like God might've been sh*tting him, again!

And, something else has been troubling me...What is it that the Republicans have for "Wall-Eyed" people? Just look at 'em...This Huck guy, and, Tom DeLay, and, John Ashcroft, and, Rudy, and, Ol' Huck's old lady, too! How do any of them think anybody's going to believe a word they're saying? You try to look any of them in the Eye, and you'll get 'One' while the other one is staring at the frickin' Wall!

Shifty-eyed, duplicitous Warmongering EvangiCons! What did we ever do without 'em back in the good ol' days?

Brick

Any cartoonists out there? Having studied Huckasluts face for a while, I believe he is the embodiment of Snively Whipsnade, the EVIL villan.

Now we need this cartoonist to superimpose Snively's long curly mustache on Hucasluts face.

As Snively twists the curly ends with his forefinger, he will utter:

"I'm coming for YOU and the Mortgage!"

P.S. - Not copyrighted, so have at it folks.....

Huckabee has an invisible friend who lives in the sky and tells Mike what's right and wrong. If Mike doesn't listen, there's another invisible man who lives underground that sets Mike on fire for a very long time.

I have no problem with Huckabee believing this kind of medieval bullshit; but I don't want Mike's invisible friend running the country or changing the consitution.

I can't vote for Clinton and it looks like I can't vote for Huckabee either. Slim pickin's this time.

So focused on pressing his religious views on others, Huckabee has lost sight of what the secular American republic is all about. That a sizable segment of society still considers this guy a serious candidate for president is downright scary--and sad.

Wanna stop this incredibly stupid conversation?

Remove the tax exempt status from all religions. If religions are to be involved directly in spending the taxpayers money, they can pay their fair share. And if they don't want to pay, stay the hell out of it. Religions have had special treatment in the tax exemption status, that is not provided by the Constitution, for a very long time, so it's not as if the US taxpayers owe them anything.

I guarantee, if you even attempt to remove their tax exempt status, they'll drop this conversation like a hot rock. Because their only God is money...all their words notwithstanding. I guarantee that they like their tax status more than rewriting the Constitution to make the United States into a funda-mental-ist (emphasis on the mental) theocracy.

Someone should tell Huckabee that not everyone believes all those fairy tales.

This Christian thing is what is dividing the country.

The Constitution reads separation of church and state. And that should be it.

how about we ammend it to say there is a seperation of church and state and preachers or any other bible thumpers are no longer able to run for president.

Seig Heil, Mein Fuhrer!

If Hucakabee actually wins the nomination, we need to dress up as Nazis and parade around with signs like "Fascists for Huckabee" and shout Seig Heil a lot. Because people need to know and understand that this is primarily a fascist approach to government and will lead directly to a totalitarianism. We're already headed that way, we don't need to accelerate it.

Though an atheist has already been elected President (Jefferson in 1800 and 1804), it is hard to believe that one could today be elected. And yet this idiot, for lack of a better word, might stand a chance.

Jefferson in case you are wondering might have called him a deist but others in his era weren't so kind. Jonathan Edwards, Jr. (1745-1801) railed against Jefferson on more than one sermon so this Church-State divide has long been with us. If you're interested you should read Jonathan Edwards' sermon from 1794 on "The Necessity of Belief in Christianity." Compare that sermon with John Leland's "The Rights of Conscience Inalienable" from 1791 and you get a good idea of the debate on the role that religion should play in government in the early Republic. Leland's sermon should be required reading in any civics class.

What troubles me, being like Jefferson an atheist, is how these men running for office on the GOP side think they know what the Founding Fathers believed in. How is it that I a Colombian know US history better than they do? What does that say about the US educational system if it can't even produce people who know their country's history?

The Bible isn't going to balance the budget...we've had about enough of the 'faith-based economics', if you get elected, for the love of 'God', pretty please hire an honest accountant...
