Huckabee Constitution God

Raw Story:

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

This story should be "above the fold" in every major newspaper in the country. Someone who thinks the earth is 6000 years old wants to rewrite the Constitution? Wow.

He'd be cute if the situation wasn't so dangerous.

Anyhow... "here, Christians! Here, boy! There's the rabbit! CHASE THE RABBIT! Don't mind the little men behind the curtain... CHASE THE RABBIT!"

Like I said, he'd be cute if the situation wasn't so dangerous.

I, umm, seriously think they don't have the foggiest notion of what a true "Christian" actually is, nor do they care.

We'd better hope Uncle Cornpone's Magic Jesus Revue stays the fuck in Arkansas where it belongs. This fool gets crazier by the second.

This man is dangerous. Fascist bigotry + a wink and a smile. Remind you of any former and current presidents you know?

I love when Rethuglicans say crap like this. It's perfect ammunition that can be used against them in a general election....... like McCain's "I have no problem with us being in Iraq for 100 - 1,000 years" comment.

huckabee and his theocratic notions of a *only-baptists-need-apply* version of a fascist christian america are mercifully difficult to enact as a constitutional amendment.

from wikpedia:
"Article Five of the United States Constitution describes the process whereby the Constitution may be altered. Such amendments may be proposed by the United States Congress or by a national convention assembled at the request of the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the several states. To become valid, amendments must then be ratified by either the legislatures of or ratifying conventions held in three-fourths of the several states."

so tell me huckabee ol' bean, you can't even get over 51% of the country to vote for a president over another guy...how do you ever expect to get 3/4 of the states to agree with you of all people on this? Never happen.

I have been saying for many years now that the American Republic will be destroyed by fundamentalist Christians not by any outside force. We ought to require an oath of office from anybody who seeks election to any government office in which he/she states openly that they put the Constitution before the Bible or Koran or what have you. If they are not able to put the Constitution over their faith, then they are unable to "protect and defend the Constitution"... which they now supposedly swear to do but often do not honor.

This guy is nuts....absolutely not in touch with reality !!!!

When he isolates all the HIV/AIDS people from society, will he segregate all the non-believers; who don't believe in a god as HE understands it ?????

Sucakabee is basically a Christian Taliban. Why don't we send him off to Iraq or Afghanistan to fight some infidels? Why doesn't he volunteer?
