Huckabee Constitution God

Raw Story:

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

THIS is why radical religious theocrats are so dangerous.

ok, this Christian is officially not voting for Huckabee. is this guy nuts? Huck needs to take an American history course, read some Jefferson, and maybe buy 'The Constitution for Dummies'.

In Arkansas, Huckabee is thought to be a progressive. So is Li'l Abner.

I heard that.
And the minute I heard that, I called up his campaign office and told them he has one big decision to make:

Either he is running as GOVERNOR Huckabee, or REVEREND Huckabee.

I told the nice young lady that he scared the shit out of me when he started pontificating for a theocracy with that statement.

I also told her they are all bound by their words (which they are....hence the nasty little 'bindup' of the government at the moment).

Give him a call and tell him just how you feel:

It is time to stop this crap right now.

I thought Republicans kept saying that bringing Sharia law to America would be a bad thing?

Huh? Whose God is going to provide said "standard"? Whose interpretation of "the word"?

Stick a fork in this one. He's done.

Should he win the nomination, Democrats should beat him handily, if they'd stop all the bickering and infighting that is.

We couldn't even get the ERA ratified, but Reverend Huckabee wants to change the Constitution to include his god ... steel cojones, the guy has. Apparently, he didn't pay attention in 9th grade civics about the separation of church and state thing, but what can we do? God's standards?

Ahhh, another crackpot Christian heard from. Why do you think "GOD' was left out of the Constitution? Up to the convention of 1789, religious persecution was standard in every colony including all of New England and parts of the south. I 'thank God' every day that the founding fathers were rationalists and not religious zealots.

How about the inclusion of church and state? Believers of all sorts believe their interpretation to be the only correct way. We have enough down to earth problems to deal with thanks for the most part due to this administration's bungling. Huck is great for getting off topic.

I guess that Huck doesn't believe the founding fathers knew exccatly what they were doing circa 1776-1789.
