John Roberts To Host Nightly Election Wrap-Up For CNN

CNN says it is beginning a nightly prime-time wrap-up of election news, further evidence that the 2008 presidential campaign is a television hit.

The one-hour show, "CNN Election Center," will be hosted by John Roberts and a rotating collection of other CNN personalities. It will air opposite its rivals' prime-time heavyweights, Bill O'Reilly on Fox News Channel and Keith Olbermann on MSNBC.

The show displaces an hour hosted by Rick Sanchez and is a quick response to public interest in the campaign.

The three news networks collectively averaged 8 million viewers for their prime-time coverage of the New Hampshire primary. The same night in 2004 was watched by 3.57 million, according to Nielsen Media Research.

CNN isnt a news organization. The election is 'programming'. This is 'news' as 'sport', it's like the superbowl everyday!

John Roberts couldn't be more of an opinionated turd. It's worse with him because he's an anchor. At least Lou Dobbs has his own show where you know what you get.

News is reported AFTER it happens. CNN's political coverage is about FORECASTING and predicting an outcome they prefer. God forbid it doesn't go the way they THINK or TELL YOU IT WILL.

Oh great -just what we need is more Lou Dobbs who's now insane enough to believe he has just as good of a chance to be President as Bloomberg, or more of Malveax who can easily be tilted into ranting like a spoiled pre-menstrual teenager -or my favorite is Wolf Blitzer's cracked analysis in which he called my home city's Democratic mayoral candidate a surfer chick -repeatedly in the few days before the actual vote.
