Mukasey Leahy Round Two

Politico:

Attorney General Michael Mukasey will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee at the end of the month, his first appearance before the committee since his nomination was cleared following a bruising fight over the controversial interrogation technique known as "waterboarding."

Mukasey will appear on Jan. 30 at 10am.

The attorney general's appearance will likely revive debate on the waterboarding issue after Mukasey refused to unequivocally state that the technique was a form of torture, which almost derailed his nomination.

Bush, Gonzales and Mukasey must all answer for the innactivity on the Haliburton/KBR rape and coverup. This is not going away. We all need to contact our Senators and Congressman. Two years to conduct an investigation isn't acceptable.

If Mukasey let himself be waterboarded it might help him make up his mind if it was torture or just good clean fun.

When I read the rantings against bush I am reminded of the blithering angst the republicans felt for clinton BUT....

whatever the republicans could prove or imagine that clinton did, it never stooped to the level of what this gang has done to us, the citizens of the US.

We might sound, to the republicans, like the evil mirror image of themselves years ago but what clinton did was only harmful to himself and his family and perhaps the people that were snookered by him

His "crime" never endangered our constitution, our liberty, our treasure, or our lives.

What digusts me the most, though

IS THE SPINELESS DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS THAT IS LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH IT.

Hillary may be a sellout, and she may be the worst choice for a Democratic candidate in decades....

But, God, she's not Huckabee or McCain, so I apologize for attacking her so harshly.

If the threat of terrorism is such that a president can suspend the rule of law by a fiat of his will, then why have a Constitution? There is no such power granted to the executive unless a spineless Congress drops their britches for the president and grabs their ankles.

It has already well been determined that waterboarding is torture, and therefore a violation of International law.

Could the defendants at Nuremberg actually have walked out of that courtroom based on a "novel legal theory?" I didn't think so.

The Judiciary Committee should not continue to poke ineffectually at the edges of what is plain in front of its face, no matter what that might mean either to their own careers or to the Executive Branch. Their BUSINESS is The Law, and "the prerogatives of the Congress are basically absolute."

These phony shows is why we need to be in a strong position to remove all our reactionary members of Congress/Senate.
Vote Edwards.
Vote Obama.
Vote Kucinich.
everything else is more war forever.
With progressive leadership in the WH, we will have the strength to remove the bad apples.

"his first appearance before the committee since his nomination was cleared following a bruising fight over"

Bruising fight?

If things go the same way, Mukasey will stone-wall again, Bush and his neo-Con supporters will be smirking once more, and the pro-Constitution Senators will get another bruising.

Triple secret hearings. No wonder. If we knew how badly the constitution and the Geneva Convention have been circumvented, it is doubtful any of these SCUMBAGS could walk around in public.
Leahy, Schumer, Feinstein, and Reid really sold us out.
Karma is funny thing....

This Bushpig is there to stall, delay and obfuscate while

the clock winds down for the worst administration ever!

He wants only to not cause headlines and not raise flags

that draw attention to the Bush crime family's fascist cabal.

Is it too much to hope Schumer's role in getting Mukasey's nomination approved and his support for Lieberman will come back and haunt him?
Any hope he will have to fight a primary next time around? To me he represents all that wrong with the Democratic establishment.
The shame is he used to be quite progressive when he first went to DC.

Somehow, the democrats are complicit in the crime. Feinstein and Schumer are anti-heroes here.

I'm just as interested in the violations on the part of the justice department on our Civil Liberties.

Why has this topic received so little interest from the Congress and the Media? And why is not a part of the debates (?) of the Presidential hopefuls.
