Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney claimed a much-needed victory over Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) in Michigan's presidential primary tonight, a win that seems to ensure the most wide-open fight for the Republican nominaton in the last three decades.

With Romney topping McCain and former governor Mike Huckabee in the Wolverine State, there have now been different outcomes in each of the three major states that have cast votes in the Republican nomination fight -- a divided judgment leaving no obvious front-runner.

Well, the good citizens of Michigan must be in lalaland if they think Romney or anyone else is going to be able to turn around the economy of the automobile industry in the state in the forseeable furture if ever.

Toyota is now #2, shoving Ford to #3, and Chrysler is in BIG trouble. GM and Ford expoert 50% of their cars and Chrysler exports about 5% of theirs. Also, about 2/3rds of Chrysler's sales last years were trucks/suv's-----whose sales have taken a nosedive!

The Republican voters in Michigan voted for what they WANT to hear. That is very scary.
As an American, I want them to realize how important it is that we get a grip on reality and put someone in the Whitehouse who will make a REAL difference (if that is possible without a total reveloution).

Romney knows he is lying to the people.
We the people are already used to that from the Bush administration---and look where its gotten us.

SHAME ON YOU, Mitt Romney!
People of Michigan----WAKE UP FROM YOUR DREAM!
Accept your reality and move forward!

Its about "We the People" this time.

Increasingly it is beginning to appear that the GOP is headed for a brokered convention and how this Saturday's GOP contest in South Carolina plays out may have a determining impact if the GOP can some pare down the number of "top" contenders. In what looks like a race to the bottom, the GOP may not be proving evolution which they are dead set against but devolution.
There has not been a brokered convention for the GOP since 1948 and the last non-first ballot nomination was in 1952 but that isn't stopping this bunch of GOP rethreads from trying to roll back the clock.
On Super Tuesday, February 5th, the self-proclaimed front-runners will pick and choose where to do their own particular battles. It is a scene from Don Quijote out fighting mythical windmills. Huckabee and Thompson will cover the South (GA, AL, TN). Guiliani will bi-coastal to go with his bisexuality I guess (FL, NY, CT, CA and I guess IL just to prove he can go both ways). Romney will find comfort among the Mormon West (UT, MT, ID) and McCain in the saner West (AZ, NM & CO). What states are actually competitive in all this? Guiliani stands the most to lose because Romney and McCain will make strides in CA, CT, MA and IL not to mention MN, ND. At least then South Carolina may spare the GOP hopefuls some more hari kari if they can kill off Huckabee or Thompson. Ron Paul may the only GOP candidate with a national fan base but even then it seems to be limited to the low teens no matter which state you're in.

Is a brokered convention a bad thing for the GOP? Probably not. It may make the most sense if they don't succumb to Romney or Guiliani. Anyone for Cheney in 2008? That's William Kristol's pick. Probably not but might the GOP resurrect a Tom Keane, Chuck Hagel, Lamar Alexander, Jim Talent, Rick Santorum, or waiting in the wings Newt Ginrich? Newt is looking mighty much a savior in the wings.

If you read the whole article, you learn that "there are still five Republicans running . . ."
including (in boldface type) Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani.

No mention whatsoever of another candidate who beat both Thompson and Giuliani in Michigan---Ron Paul. Congressman Paul also beat Giuliani in Iowa and Thompson in New Hampshire.

Ron Paul . . . still in the running.
