Update: The original embedded YouTube video has now been pulled, but new versions are getting uploaded.

If the YouTube does not work, Gawker again has it

New updates below

Update:
Half an hour after posting this story Sunday at 10 pm, about two hours after gawker's time stamp, Huffington Post was alerted that the video content in the story was no longer there or playing. However, there are still excerpts of what Tom Cruise said in what was a 9+ minute video touting the wonders of Scientology. One quote Huffington Post remembers that gakwer does not mention is Tom Cruise saying something roughly equivalent to, "I have no time for spectators. Either get on the field or get out of the stadium." *(actual quote below)

Mark Ebner, the investigative reporter, just emailed us links to some Scientology promotional videos. Morton's central claim is that Cruise, star of movies from Risky Business to Mission Impossible, is the effective number two of the Church of Scientology, the cultish religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard, and subscribed to by other eccentric Hollywood actors such as John Travolta. The videos bear out, at the very least, that Cruise is central to the organization's marketing efforts. In this amazing clip, to a background track of theme from Mission Impossible, Cruise explains how Scientologists are "the authorities on the mind", the only people who can bring peace and unite cultures.

Update II:
Us Weekly has more of a transcript. A few highlights:

"Look, I wish the world was a different place. I'd like to go on vacation and go and romp and play and just do that, you know what I mean. That's what I want it to be. There's times I'd like to do that, but I can't because I know I have to do something about it.

"I have to do it because I can't live with myself if I don't, and that really is it.

"I have to tell you something - it is rough and tumble, and it's wild and wooly, and it's a blast, it's a blast, it really is fun because, dammit, there is nothing better than the going out there and fighting the fight and suddenly you see things are better.

"I need more help, get those spectators either in the playing field or out of the arena. Really, that's how I feel about it.**

Tom Cruise may be crazy, but Born on the 4th of july was a great movie and moved me to tears and I will always feel that deep down he is still that New Jersey boy - maybe Im biased because I am from the same area as him, the same way I feel about John Travolta, his dad had a tire store in our town for my whole youth....anyway...

Wow ... video was pulled. Tom, as all who saw the video, is rabid. He makes no sense ... like a junk yard dog he is motivated only to shill for COS.

Many celebrities have been used and burned out shilling for $cientology. They are getting their money's worth out of Tom right now. Most see him as a very priveledged nut case but some, like Katie, will sell their souls for fame.

She is becoming more and more robotic as I watched her yesterday. The Internet is the best way to find out there sad truth about this cult. they fought like hell to close down the Net as truth is their true enemy.

Once one buys into KSW, they are proclaiming war on those who are NOT supportive of $cientolgy. SPs are anyone who dare to disagree with LRH. You think the Nazi movement was controlling ... go into an Org sometime and see how rabid these folks are.

Yet none will admit to you there is a Xenu ... not until OT3.

You'll feel for the Sea Org staff members children as well. Sad and pathetic. I've seen some filthy lost kids there.Brainwashing that is the envy of any other cult.

Other celebrities have been used and abused by Sci ... Tom has bought into it lock stock and barrel. Look at him ... nuts.

Did you catch the bit toward the endd, where he bares his teeth in his most flesh-eating grin as he expresses a wish that the future would be a place where "We'll only read about SPs in history books?"

SP= 'suppressive person;' that is, anyone who disagrees with Scientology's goal of world domination.

The people who managed to get this video to the media are SPs. So are you, if you're criticizing his religion.

Tom wants you dead. Extinct. Don't you find that a little disturbing?

Fun fact- L. Ron Hubbard claimed that in a previous life he was Cecil Rhodes. Why not King Leopold?

I guess we can expect Reverend Moon to announce that in a past life he was Dr. Shiro Ishii.

FROM THE BBC: DEC 7, 2007
Germany's federal and state interior ministers have declared the Church of Scientology unconstitutional, clearing the way for a possible ban.

Went to a Scientology meeting in Atlanta in the 70's and never went back. First thing the speaker said to the audience was: if you get bad vibrations from someone you're sitting next to...get up and move and there was some that did. The only bad vibrations I got was from the speaker and it was immediate.
For those who don't know this fact...Scientology has a paranoia streak and will bully, whoever disagrees with them, and do they have the money to do it. They go after reporters, who write bad stuff about them. As a testimonial to that fact pay attention to Cruise's words. He acts angry and goes into attack mode as soon as anyone disagrees with his product...make no mistake about it, it is a cult-product not a religion. Back to Cruise's words: "I need more help, get those spectators either in the playing field or out of the arena. Really, that's how I feel about it." This is exactly the way it is. Give yourself over completely to what we tell you and for those who won't...don't waste our time.
Another fact for those who don't know. Once you become a member and want to quit...well that's a no-no. Scientology doesn't like quitters...they might go-on to say something negative about the organization. No self-respecting cult will have that, don't you know.
Once I thought Woody Allen was the funniest but then he starting messing with his adopted underage daughters. Droppped him like a "hot potato." Notice I'm doing the same with Cruise. Find myself not wanting to see his movies...and I think it has gone on too long now. Cruise, himself, has gone on far too long with this thinking, and it's too late...he's too far gone.

Still ... a lot more coherent then Kirk Cameron's born again Christian videos mocking people who believe in evolution... choose your story and let suspended disbelief takeover.

So what...Fundamental Christianity isn't a series of little cults with leaders who are con men? Don't they believe that God was born as a man and killed but then rose from the dead? You're telling me aliens is a bigger stretch than that? Hey I think a sense of connection to the Divine is a good thing...but get real, things get strange quickly when you start comparing religious beliefs. They are all created by people, they are all run by people, and people are at best fallible and at worst...well, self-serving. My favorite is..."THE BIBLE says..." like there is only one Bible LOL Or like there weren't a ton of other gospels and epistles that were rejected...by men.

As many movies as he's done you'd think he'd heard of a frakkin' script. It sounds like he's just winging it or something.
I would love to have seen the video, but let's be honest. We can see the same thing on a number of religious channels. Sometimes I come down hard on religious types, but not all are nutty. The truth is, though, we can find wingnuts of every religious stripe who think they have the answer, or barring that, they've been told by something mystical to do something to help all the rest of us.

Really, how does he keep a straight face?

The hyperlitigious church of Scientology has taken down the video. THAT is a perfect example of what I meant about the church being against free speech.

Well, I thought that way when I was a scientologist for 18 years, until I found out the hard way that you cannot question ANYTHING in Scientology or you risk being a target of their Fair Game tactics. Look that up. We're talking about a church that feels it's ok to
destroy enemies. And it does that when it can..... The rate of suicide is very high. The rate of enforced disconnection from family members by scientologists is even higher. Scientology destroys a person's essential freedoms to think and speak and love by choice. There are no choices in scientology. The gun is put to the head and members agree
out of fear. To leave the church is to risk everything, and that is why some stay. What was thought of as a helpful organization then
becomes a prison. Look for and read xenu dot net and Lermanet dot net.
Don't be fooled
