At the onset of Tuesday's Democratic debate, NBC's Brian Williams and Tim Russert asked a series of questions about race and civil rights. A man in the audience protested the line of questioning, shouting "race based questions!" at the moderators. Watch the video:

I saw the debate and heard the gentleman yell out the comment regarding 'race-based' questions. I must say that I was thinking the same thing just as I heard him. Unfortunately, it didn't stop Russert or Williams from continuing with their obsession---although Tim and Brian looked scared to death at that moment. Priceless!

I posted a comment that decried Huff Post's support of a petition against polls and gave reasons. It was censored. I posted it again four hours later, and it was censored again.

This appalling behavior is consistent with what I find more and more in HuffPost--significant pro corporate bias. Check it out. See how much objective coverage there is for John Edwards, corporate America's worst nightmare. You won't find it on any MSM outlet that now includes HuffPost.

Since this thread is about the "race" questions, that is what I will address here.

First let me begin by saying that I am not a supporter of any of the remaining Dem candidates, but I felt obligated to watch in hopes of finding a reason to support one of them... (John Edwards could be a maybe, since he managed to not trot out the girl who died from no liver transplant...gives me hope that maybe he's not just a "chatty johnny" doll.)

My first choice all along has been Joe BIDEN and my second choice Chris Dodd, and I would venture to guess that if they had not been squashed by the media, including MSNBC and Messrs. Williams and Russert, they wouldn NOT have tolerated such bullshit questions to waste the first half hour of this event.

AND, if Hillary or Obama had any balls at all, they would/could have blanketly refused to go there last night (altho' Hillary should have clearly and publicly repudiated Bob Johnson's remarks...POOR CHARACTER/JUDGEMENT exhibited on her part...probable show-stopper.)

The three of them could have done it... They could have simply said: "Brian/Tim, we have agreed that we will not answer any questions regarding race or gender... Now, can we please get on to substantive issues." Period...
What could Williams and Russert have done?

BIDEN/Dodd would have done it (in fact I think they DID do something similar during one of the debates, didn't they?)

Well, the Iowa Idiots caucaused, and this is what we're stuck with...A legislative hypocrite, a maniaclly self-ambitious former first lady, and "there's something about John (not)".

Boycott Iowa corn.

This has been this way for over 24 hours. You can't get this link fixed, fer crissakes?
03:05 PM on 01/16/2008
Does anyone have a link to the REAL video from last night? I'm curious...

And I'm going to give HuffPost the benefit of the doubt here and assume human error on posting the wrong video, not intentional deception. Of course, its going to be hard to sustain that if they don't fix the link....

What kind of crap is going on here? Hillary isn't even my first choice, and that ad you're scamming us with is plain wrong.

Where's the video?
01:21 PM on 01/16/2008
WTF?? Huffington, you are out of line here! This is supposed to be a video of the debates, not an ad for the Democrats. We have enough people trying to fake us out and don't need what used to be favorite blog site to do the same. I have grown less and less fond of your site as it has become more junky, less above the fray and analytical, more biased towards one candidate and less fresh. You are going in a direction that I'm much less interested in.

I did like the debates last night. As usual, I didn't think Tim did a good job as moderator, sticking with the gotcha stuff in the beginning. It was a pleasure to hear everyone go more in depth on their plans and even better, their critical thinking and depth of understanding of the issues. Finally!! I'm not sure MSNBC liked it but I loved the format!

That,s it I,ve had it I will not come back to this site ,why don,t you just change the name to the ObamaPo and see where your audience goes Arianna ,hell change it to FauxPo that might be a little closer to the truth.Adios.
12:53 PM on 01/16/2008
Do you have any shred of integrity anymore Ariana, I know you used to be a repug, but please stop attacking one of our candidates, All trust i had in you is now gone! If i want this crap ill just go to Faux News
12:49 PM on 01/16/2008
This is bull sh**, if you,re going to do a switcheroo between an ad. and a supposed video segment well I,ve had it, somebody needs their ass kicked. Are you now a branch of Faux News or what. I,m sick of it.
12:41 PM on 01/16/2008
no footage from the debate ... all I'm getting is an ad from Democratic Courage telling me Hillary Clinton backs down to Republicans.
12:38 PM on 01/16/2008
Kudos to the man in the audiance. Russerts incessant attacks are too much to endure. I would say also one point to both Hillary and Obama to rise above it !
