Jewish Groups Criticize Ms. Magazine For Rejecting Pro-Israel Ad

Jewish feminists are criticizing Ms. magazine for refusing to run a full-page advertisement submitted by the American Jewish Congress that features three prominent Israeli women.

Calling the decision "contemptible" and "hostile" toward Israel, the women -- some of whom helped to found the feminist magazine -- said that the decision seemed to be motivated by anti-Israel sentiment among the publication's staff and its readers. The advertisement, which includes the words "This is Israel," features photographs of the president of Israel's Supreme Court, Dorit Beinisch; Israel's foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, and the speaker of the Knesset, Dalia Itzik.

I find it offensive that they didn't allow the ad however, it was not censorship. I find it offensive that Gravel and Kucinich couldn't debate, but that wasn't censorship either.

The truly ironic thing is the abysmal situation of women in Arab countries and the Palestinian Authority. The human and civil rights situations are appalling.

Until the Arabs in power learn to value human and civil rights for their own citizens and to enforce them, it is impossible to expect them to be able to live in peace with anyone else.

And no one try to say look at all the human rights abuses of Israel against the Palestinians. The situation is horrible. But Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aksa Martyrs, etc. are trying to murder Jews every at every opportunity. They incite the children to hatred and murder. If there were no road blocks, there would be suicide bombers getting through.

Israeli Arabs have more civil and human rights than any citizen of any Arab country.

How is this any different than MSNBC barring Kucinich from the debate? To expect news organzations to not have a political positon and run stories and advertisements that reflect those views is naive. THe NYTImes does it, its editorials and "news" stories have been pro-Bush for years.

Jimmy Carter, an outstanding citizen, was bashed when he wrote his book on Israel and Palestine. Yet this is an AD...and it sounds quite disingenuous. If they want to portray an honest Israel they need to show the policy that oppresses and murders Palestinians on a daily basis.

Lets face it, Is Israel is the 51st state - Its gets more aid for the US then any other single country. The reason is simple - The US sends our tax money to Israel and it, in turn, gives it to American Corporations to locate there. Most of the folks in Israel are employed by American Corporations - A little Googling will demonstrate why Israel is valuable. Cheap and smart labor for US Corporations. If it were not, no one would give a shit about Israel - just like the USA doesn't give a shit about ANY other nation it can't exploit. American corporations are probably the most evil organizations on the face of the earth. They gobble up small town America with their big box stores and then throw them away when they are done with them. They import cheap products from China and etc., at the expense of US and the Chinese people. Again, the USA wouldn't be giving Israel $10 billion dollars aid to some 7 million people if there were not big corporate dollars involved. The problem is, most Americans don't know this......­....most Americans can't spell Israel!!!!!!!!
