I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Maher Hecklers

Just a week after making the boldest talk show appearance ever (third video down), Bill Maher found himself in another awkward position: this time at "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

While asking about Maher's opinion on the current crop of presidential contenders, Leno was interrupted Tuesday night by a Dennis Kucinich supporter, who yelled, "Let Dennis debate! Stop censorship! Help save democracy!" (Dennis was shut out from MSNBC's debate last night in Las Vegas).

Then, after a commercial break, Maher was interrupted by a separate audience member, shouting a more ambiguous message: "GE, NBC, Put Impeachment on TV!". Too bad he didn't handle the nuisance like he did on his own show.

Check out the clip from "The Tonight Show" below:

From NBC 1/15/08.

So Bill Maher and Jeno have sunken to the level of dennis miller. All stinking scabs and appeasers. All corporate owned puke suckers.

It our the American people's fault we are having this problem. When a man is strong and tells it like it is and want to stand up to these fascist bastards. You the American people say "he's right, but he doesn't have a chance to win". What kind of defeatist attitude is that? If he's right, you should vote for him. REGARDLESS WHO THE MSM put on the air the most. What does that have to do with who the fuck you vote for.

I have been all over the page in picking who i will vote for. I have finally desided to vote for the person my enemies dislikes. Thats the candidate thats right. Dennis Kucinich the unpresidential short guy.

If every person who said "i would vote for him, but he doesn't have a chance" he'd probably have enough votes to win. DAM PEOPLE, GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES!

What's all the uproar? Bill's comments were not inappropriate. Chill, people.

Maher is an idiot. The guy has somehow made a career out of reading the headlines in the NY Times and then smirking and then asking even more ignorant celebrities for their opinions. His show makes the Daily Show look like the Brookings Institute.

War profiteer owned MSNBC shut Kucinich out of the debates for promoting a Dept. Of Peace.
To me this is like the Emperor's New Clothes and we should all be shouting about it and perhaps writing and boycotting MSNBC. I applaud the Heckler !

Bill you are disgusting. Somehow you landed yourself a job on T.V. where you spout your sophomoronic opinions. How dare you mock anyone for the same.

Ya, Ok. So, Bill Maher has control over weather Kucinich gets to debate or not? What ever.
I don’t like a few things he says and yes he is arrogant but he does look at religion and call “Bull Shit” which so few have the balls to do that I’ll take what I can get.

And he is funny too.

I once really liked and respected Bill Maher. I kinda thought that he spoke for the people that didn't have an outlet to voice their opinions. The more time I spend watching and listening to him, the less time I want to. He doesn't even give some beliefs or opinions the respect of a conversation. He just dismiss or ignore it. I don't like hecklers in general. I think they are rude and disrespectful. But in this day and time what are the alternatives? He does the exact same thing that he accuses big media of doing. But he is so full of himself and so sure he can't be wrong he doesn't even entertain the thought. He is arrogant and self absorbed. I believe that at times he helps to start dialogues that need to happen. Big business owns the media and they have control over an outlet that influences what we see, hear, feel, and most of all what we think. They have control of the most powerful weapon any successful country could have against its people. The question is, what can we do about it? There are very few people that are in position of power that are doing the right thing. I pray our country survive.

Yay! Let's hear it for the hecklers! We need more of 'em! I think more people should ban together and raid these bullshit shows in order to get voices the heard and the messages out there that are being systematically buried by the MSM. It's the only way it will ever be heard.

On top of that, I'm truly shocked that anyone is still watching Jay ("friend of the Writers") Leno. As a striking writer, I actually witnessed Jay as he rode around for one day on his motorcycle with a "MOBILE" oil logo emblazoned on the side of the gas tank passing out doughnuts to the picketing writers, all the while making damn sure the press saw him and his "sponsor". Friend of the writers my ass! What a spineless corporate slave he's become. He's pathetic. Who's buying ad time on that late night turd?

And Bill, well I used to like Bill before he decided that freedom of speech is only okay as long as it's not interrupting his own. And although these are not his exact words, he pretty much told his writers to fuck off on his show last week. That sealed it for me. He's a DICK! Met him in Vegas once - along with his 12 year old hooker girlfriend. He likes 'em real young.

As for GE and NBC - just switch 'em off. If all a television network can provide is shit, lies, and misinformation, why watch it? Just switch 'em off. That goes for every other network that promotes political censorship, perpetuates lies, and produces nothing but mindless empty rhetoric and baseless speculation. Don't waste your time with these idiot TV talk show hosts, or pundits trying to pass themselves off as real "journalists". They're just a bunch of cocky-doo-dee.

I urge more network interruptions in the name of democracy, impeachment, and the freedom of speech.

At least we still have C-SPAN!

Okay, I know, I know, I'm ranting. I'll stop here and await the onslaught of attacks.

(part two)

No, I do not like to shout in public and make a scene, but I like even less what is happening to our democracy. Sometimes, especially when you know you only have a few seconds, the only option is to shout. Does anyone really think if I just raised my hand politely they would have invited me down to calmly discuss these pressing issues – of course not.

If actions like these provoke thought and debate then they do serve their purpose and should continue regularly.

We must all take responsibility for what is happening in this country. Why, because if you love your country it is the patriotic thing to do. If not us, who? If not now, when?

In peace and sincerity,

Mark Lipman

What too many people fail to see is that this is a question that goes way beyond just one candidate. This is a fundamental question of freedom of speech. Our right to express ourselves and our opinions is being usurped by the corporations, like General Electric, a war profiteer, which owns NBC and decides whose voice in a presidential debate we are allowed to hear.

This is a question of preserving the democracy that we have left, a question of ensuring fair elections and media justice. If the corporations are allowed (which under FCC licensing rules they are not) to decide for us who is electable and who is not, then we no longer live in a democracy. All official presidential candidates have the right to participate in official presidential debates, regardless of whether you are told they are electable or not.

By having their voices in the dialog it creates a balance and gives the voting public the chance to decide for themselves. The corporations do not want this - it is not profitable for them, so therefore they censor any voice that dissents against their will.

There are those who say here that I am a jerk, or rude, or what have you for speaking up – because I am the heckler in the audience. You say that what I, and those who were with me did serves no purpose, but by the fact that we now are having this debate across the nation over this one action is the proof that what we did does make a difference.

Maher has never really worked for me.

He has made comments that were spot on in that snarky, sarcastic way of his.
I like sarcastic.

But my problem with him is his arrogance.
I've always sensed a thinly veiled bitterness in him.

Like so many in this country he just pays lip service to being of the left.
