Obama Unhappy With Aides Over 'Race Memo'
Politico:
My colleague Carrie Budoff Brown reports:
Sen. Barack Obama told his top campaign aides that he was "unhappy" about a staff-written memo about allegedly racial comments made by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and her supporters, Obama's chief media strategist David Axelrod said Wednesday. The memo was signed by one of his South Carolina press aides and eventually circulated to various media outlets.
"He made it very clear that he was unhappy and that it shouldn't have happened," Axelrod said. "He directed it at us. He made it very clear to the managers of the campaign that he was unhappy, and to make sure everyone understood, and that it wasn't good enough ... that it came at a very low level in the campaign. The word had to spread from top to bottom."
