Protest Coming To Chris Matthews' Doorstep

Has MSNBC's Chris Matthews been making you all hurty? Because he's been making us all hurty for some time now. His unhinged animus for all things Clintonia has, over time, shifted from a discourse-harming daily exercise in self-torture to a full-blown, all-expenses-paid trip to the hot, malarial swamp of his own imagination. We've noted some of the lowlights, such as his revisionist version of the women's suffrage movement, and his ignorance of the news events in Myanmar. And privately, we'd like to note that every single time he uses the movie Cat Ballou as a pop-cultural referent, a million billion angels die.

Well, the Hardball host reached a new zenith of stultifying inanity the morning after the New Hampshire primary, when--mere hours after a solemn promise to "never underestimate" Hillary Clinton again, he took to the airwaves to declare that "The reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around." That moment was a flashpoint for a new round of pointed criticism, much of which has been well summarized by the good people at MediaMatters, who have built the essential anti-Matthews brief.

But would you like to have a chance to weigh in? If you find yourself in the Washington, DC area today, why not join the National Women's Political Caucus, who will be making their voices heard this afternoon at 4pm at NBC's DC studios at 4001 Nebraska Avenue Northwest. The Washington Metropolitan area is getting covered in snow today, but this won't deter the NWPC one bit. When the Huffington Post contacted the NWPC about today's inclement weather, Executive Director Clare Giesen was quick to enthuse, "Snow, sleet...it's not going to stop us. Protesting Chris Matthews is my idea of a party! I'll be there with my umbrella."

At least he speaks her name. He pretty much stopped mentioning Edwards after Iowa, describing the race over and over and over as between Hillary and Obama. His silence on Edwards is as great a sin as his (posited) obsession with Hillary.

I see CM as being very fair. I hated him when Clinton was president because he ragged on that administration all the time. He has done the same thing with the BUSH administration. He's ragged on them a lot too. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work. Once he starts apologizing to Hillary, he loses me, I'm ready to stop watching him.

Thank God someone else heard that ignorant comments about women's suffrage! I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else. He actually said women got the vote because "men listen to women." Really??? If so, why didn't John Adams show any interest in getting women the vote back when Abigail asked him in a letter to "remember your sisters." Why did it take twentieth century women protesting in the streets, chaining themselves to the White House fence as Wilson was entertaining Allied leaders (in fact, advocates of women's suffrage were the first protestors to ever come up with the idea of converging on Washington, D.C.), being jailed in a mental hospital, being stripped naked, given food with bugs in it, hunger striking, and some, ultimately, dying while being force fed by guards.

Yet Matthews dismissed it all, claiming men GAVE women the vote because men listen to women.

It's an disgusting as if he'd claimed white people "GAVE" blacks the vote because white people listen to black people (hardly!). And, if he'd said that, we would have heard LOTS more outcry in the six weeks or so since he said it.

First of all, Chris Matthew's show is not the nightly news. It is a show about opinions. He doesn't let his guests get by with half-truths and forces them to be honest. Maybe that is why the Clintons don't like him and he doesn't like them.
Hillary deflected 3 direct questions at the last debate and got by with it. Any male who criticizes her is a sexist or misogynist. Maybe every white person who criticizes Senator Obama is a racist??
I don't think so. I'm sick of her playing the gender card.

I still remember his worshipful gasping in admiration of "Bushie's package" when the mission was accomplished. He isn't much of a journalist, more a talking head. I won't be voting for Hillary in the primary but I WILL vote for any, and I mean any democrat before I will vote for any of the republicans.

The lament on Morning Joe today, was something like:

The act of "taking one quote out of a three hour interview, out of context, and blowing it all out of proportion"

(1) The Dean Scream...

(2) I voted for the 87 billion dollars before I voted against it....

(3) It depends on the what the meaning of is,is....

For you tough minded,non- partisan journalists, here are a few other, oft repeated phrases...

What's good for the Goose...

Those who live by the sword...

and of course,If you can't stand the heat...

Seriously, isn't this how these folks make thier living? Aren't they a bit over sensitive on this topic? Do I need to invoke the "glass houses"refrain?

At times I really like Chris Matthews. He has often used his platform to hold Bush accountable in his unlawfulness. He has let Bush off the hook lately perhaps because Matthews is so lost in speculation on the election.

What can not be explained is Matthews utter contempt for the Clintons. Bill Clinton had a successful presidency and moved America forward. We were respected in the world. He also had a tawdry affair while in office. Matthews should get over it. Hillary may be an opportunist, but her goal is to reinforce the social contract.

Matthews has inconsistently blamed those who followed Bush's lies, for example, Hillary's vote for the Iraqi war, moreso then Bush himself for lying. Matthews may hold the Clinton's to a higher standard of intellectual integrity and consistency than Bush. I don't know. Matthew's unsparing dissection of the Clinton's motives and his often hands-off approach to Bush are studies in contrasts.

How pathetic! Chris Matthews has largely been correct about his coverage of Hillary.

These losers protesting him are like FoxNews heads. They make up their minds and work the facts around their ideology and demonize anyone who tries to give them the facts straight up.

No wonder most Americans hate Hillary Clinton.

With this kind of tortured logic from Jason and the NWPC, it follows that maybe women shouldn't have the right to vote. But let's be clear, this smear job on Matthews originates from the Clinton campaign, who are becoming more and more like a cult every day. The truth is that Matthews has always been very close to the truth about the Clintons, is an excellent journalist, and the Clintons are now in the business of shutting up journalists. The Clintons and Media Matters are in bed together and trying to remove Matthews from the air because he is such a good journalist. Have any of you morons heard of changing the channel? Oh, what the heck; why the hell not, let's take a few more steps to becoming a totalitarian state and silence the press. All you Matthews haters are nuts. Oh, and PS, you might want to actually look up the word misogyny in the dictionary. The guy is married and has raised a family, and has a daughter for christ's sake! Jeez, do you people turn on your brain at all during the course of the day?

It's about time someone called him on the
statements he makes. They are offensive,
disrespectful and many times sexist. He
usually has guest that nod in agreement.
No one opposes Chris. I guess they feel like they would not be asked back.

Whoopty, CM is a political groupie, he is enamored by the process, the staging, the theater of it all, and he appreciates consistency. He wants you to believe what ever it is you present, and to stick with it, that's why he likes Delay, He's full of S**t, but Delay's consistent and an effective vote getter. He will straight call you out for flip-flopping, he's looking for your spine, he's looking for a leader. If you Flip-Flop(sorry Hillary), Chris will call you out. Chris is not a policy wonk, he's a political wonk. Get it, he is a 'Political' commentator. And he likes exposing Phoneys, (sorry again Hillary). He's a playful 'chauvinist', but when is it a crime to be gender specific, and why do we all have to be gender neutral/neutered. I don't think he has ever offended any of his female guests, so if they're not offended, why do all the feminists have to get their undergarments in a wad?
