Nypoll

This is, obviously, not a good sign for the Rudy Giuliani campaign. A poll set to be released next week will have the former New York City mayor trailing Sen. John McCain in his home state.

New York Post writer Fred Dricker announced on Tim Russert's show this Saturday morning:

"Tim, you'll find this interesting. One poll that's going to come out here next week, I'm sworn to secrecy on some of the details, but not on this part -- it is going to show John McCain overtaking Rudy Giuliani in his home state, I am told. That would be extraordinary."

Giuliani, it should be noted, is regarded with a fair level of antagonism by many in New York City, who soured on him as mayor in the years leading up to 9/11. But up till now, discussion over which candidates would compete for the New York vote had centered around a hypothetical Giuliani v. Sen. Hillary Clinton general election match up, not the GOP primary months beforehand.

Explained Dicker:

"His issue has evaporated. His issue was fighting crime, fighting terrorism. Now he's trying to fight a terrible economy and trying to make the case that he's really Mr. tax cutter. I mean, he is re-branding himself in Florida with Steve Forbes running around trying to say he was really about tax cutting before, but he wasn't. He was about crime fighting and leadership. And now of course with the sub-prime mortgage problems and the economy tanking, it's just not his issue, and to the extent that his issue is out there, I think McCain has it."

This is all part of Rude E's election strategy.

Lull the opposition into a false sense of victory by losing all the primaries.

It's the same strategy he used in preparing NYC for a terrorist attack.

Put the command and communications center in the WTC (a well known target) and don't buy functioning radios for emergency services.

This guy could be President Pan's lost twin.

Good, the sooner this guy disappears, the better. I can't stand to even look at this slime ball, much less listen to him. What a putz!

Rudy's doing so badly that you have to wonder at this point if he isn't deliberately trying to lose so he can stay in the private sector where he can make lots more dough and be subject to less scrutiny--and maybe preserve what's left of his carefully cultivated 9/11 mystique among the idiots who still believe it.

Before the primaries began, Rudy took some bad hits as his business dealings and his courtship of Judi were closely examined. Seriously, I don't think he wants to be president any more. And I bet Judi doesn't want to be First Lady any more.

As a decendant of Italian immigrants- YEAH!!!

What a absolute sterotype- what focus group decided we wanted a Tony Saprano to run??
Bad marketing research and methods- YOU'RE FIRED!
Frankly ALL THESE FOCUS GROUP GENERATED CANDIDATES are passe.
Please- figured Mosley Braun couldn't win- so break up the combination- A white female and a Black Male- surveyed better did they?
EXACTLY the SAME car -just with different exterior configuations. the standard white guy must have had some nods- but not enough to push that line.
Actually you may want to turn down the 'backup' lights and beeps-some of US can still hear & see them!

We should all root for Rudy.

Let's say he mounts a comeback, and starts to be relevant. That'll turn this odd mix into a cesspool of entanglements and back-room dealings. They won't have a clear winner until round 97 of balloting in the RNC, and by then, there will be such bad news that it'll kill the Republicans.

What we should DESPERATELY ask for, is the nominee to be announced at 2:30 AM, and nobody watching on TV. There won't be a convention bounce.

Oh come on! Let's congratulate Saint Rudy of 9/11. He won his first delegate tonight in Nevada.

Let's hope it is his last.

While Giuliani once had double digit leads for the GOP nomination, he is now behind in CA. McCain who has the backing of some of the big Republican backers in the state has taken the lead, and barring some sort of unlikely landslide for Rudy in Florida, is likely to win the CA GOP primary.

"He was about crime fighting and leadership."

Nahhh... he was about ham-handed bullying, and the broken-down communications between fire and police on September 11 (Rudy's no-bid contract for the radios which had failed before) are a cracked monument to his "leadership".

In this show, Rudy was just the opening cartoon. If he's smart, he'll avoid New York like the plague and just dissolve into the background, grubbing money from anyone -- far from the East Coast -- dumb enough to hire him as a 'security consultant'.

Answer the phone Rudy... no, it's not Judy -- it's Father Time calling, and yours is up.

So what does this mean, could it be that this Batrshit has been is finally realized it's over? Hopefully he does and we won't be required to endure his flacid persona spewed on this rag any longer. That would be such a wonderful thing, Frudy going down for the last time.
