You can count the number of great TV news shows on one hand. There's "Frontline," "60 Minutes," "Bill Moyers Journal" and "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel," and what else?
"Real Sports" -- starting its 13th season at 9 p.m. Tuesday on HBO -- is so good it compels me to watch, and I don't even like sports anymore.

Leave it to a "Chicago Sun-Times" reporter to be impressed by Gumbel. LOL. Gumbel's a third rate, self-impressed hack. Plus the plastic surgery this guy has had annoys to NO end. He was deeply disliked by his co-workers back in the day he co-anchored with Katie... He had affair after affair and showed his wife no respect.. It was little surprise she was bitter during their divorce. Everyone who worked with Bryant knew what a first class creep he was.
Silly thing to say, since HBO is a paid service with a known audience base that they continue to try to expand.
HBO always advertises their upcoming programs to their subscribers and even on commercial stations.
Does Bryant remember a show called the Sopranos?
But as long as their subscription base stays healthy they couldn't care less how many people are watching the 200th showing of some lame movie.
Maybe that's what he means.
Sorry Doug but Bryant Gumbel isn't fit to lick the shoes of the journalists/producers etc. that work at Frontline. Never was and never will be. End of story.
That may be true. But whatever you do, give up doing play-by-play for the NFL Channel.
