Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has released a new Spanish-language campaign ad in Florida entitled Mi Padre (My Father), featuring Romney's son, Craig. Craig encourages voters to "get to know my father, Mitt Romney." Romney himself then chimes in with: Soy Mitt Romney y apruebo este mensaje (I'm Mitt Romney and I approved this message). Watch it:

How hypocritical of Mitt's campaign. How do you say we should be a language of one language on one hand and then have a bilingual stump speech on the other? Personally, I think the country is enriched by in introduction of the spanish (and others) language. Long before we were a country of a single language there were immigrants speaking many languages (gaelic, italian, polish, etc.) but the central issue was their ability to assimilate into society. Let's not defame the use of spanish as a language option but welcome it in areas where there are large latino populations. Would you also advocate removal of chinese placards in chinatown? We are one country, one people, but with diverse cultural perspectives. We should be welcoming our differences not rebuking them.

But when will he air a Spanish language ad denouncing the need for bilingual speaking?

He is still right we shouldn't be a nation with 2 languages. English is our nations language - those who want to do well in America should use it.

Any and all politicians will pander to the targeted audience of voters. They will say what they think that group wants to hear. And if sometimes it appears contradictory, well, that's because they were misquoted or what was originally stated was taken out of context. No matter if said statement was either audio or video recorded (concrete evidence to dispute statement).

We are the ones who have misinterpreted whatever he/she said. Of course, what was said today may be invalid tomorrow or not! This ability to say one thing and mean another is a finely tune skill that politicians have developed to an art form.

Sure we can... and will be. Kids who speak two languages or more (the majority , in Europe) have been proven to have better cognitive abilities, put simply, smarter than your average white male republican politician.
