A collage of images of the man's career set to beautiful background music -- that's completely appropriate.
It's virtually everything ELSE that the media's been doing that's "too soon!"
The facts aren't all in and there's all sorts of commentary and entertainment talking heads attempting to explain what might have happened..
The death of Heath Ledger made me sad and I'm not one of those people who puts celebrities on any sort of pedastal. But he seemed like a genuine gentle soul and a decent person you never heard a bad thing about.
Everything about the media coverage of his death has made me sick and angry.
No, I'd say a video retropsective that was nothing but Heath Ledger's images and words set to music, without the opportunity for clueless commentary from people who never really knew him and certainly don't know how or why he passed... I'd say it's the ONLY appropriate tribute at this time.
Too soon? What a question. When many such as I will miss the all he put into the parts he played and how he became each one is talent rare and should be honored. While I don't know if the many details which were and might still be wrong were strung out on the cable were in good taste and the speculation of what might have happened rather than waiting for the real story this afternoon i doubt it. I think a good tribute without the harping on the drama if he did or didn't do it on purpose is the best we can do as we in our own way say goodbye to one we knew only on screen but his youth and talent will be missed.
Let's hope that someone gets direct access to Ms. Hazlett and punches her lights out.
what, are you guys stupid? what kind of question is this to ask? would be it better if the retrospective was 24 hours later? and they the public has been dumbed down!
Too soon for a brief retrospective on Heath Ledger's brief film career? I don't think so. The soulful chords of country guitar from the heartbeakingly beautiful "Brokeback Mountain" is sadly appropriate.
