John Edwards On Letterman
Former Senator John Edwards appeared on The Late Show, with David Letterman, last night, one day after the very heated Democratic debate in South Carolina. Letterman mentioned that the campaign had been going on for a long time, and asked Edwards if he was fatigued from it, and if such a lengthy campaign affected how the candidates all got along. Edwards stalled for a moment, and then made a joke about how we "can't stand each other."

Had it ended right there, the funny moment would simply have been one more in a long, grueling campaign. However, after smiling at his joke while the audience laughed, Edwards then gave an awkward shrug, as if to say there was nothing he could do about it. Edwards goes on to call Senators Obama and Clinton "good people," but the gesture sharpened what until then had been a harmless, late night quip.

Watch the video from The Late Show, with David Letterman, below, and tell HuffPost whether or not you think Edwards' joke had some real bite behind it.

No one is Saying it, but we are all are thinking it; Edwards reminds us of another John, John Kennedy.

He got a laugh and a hand when he said that at the debates he was there to represent the "adult wing" of the democratic party. Too true.

I have a lot of respect for John Edwards, he's one of those people that grows on you. If he's the nominee for the democratic party he'll have my vote, but if HRC is the nominee I hope she would pick him as her running mate, their platform has a lot in common, both of them are pragmatist and know how to get things done.

I am PO'd with Kerry for not endorsing his former runningmate in 2004, but I think it was good; Edwards don't need that beast of burden (Kerry) riding on his back who hightailed instead of fighting for those who supported him in Ohio. Edwards is a fighter, I like where he stand on issues that matters to the people; like Hillary he's a REALIST.

Edwards, a native of South Carolina, should do well there. Oh, wait...he's a distant third. I guess South Carolinians are like North Carolinians...they don't think much of Edwards. The rest of the country has also taken note.

Edwards gave the amusing answer, not the boring one.

From the NY Observer:
Before John Edwards let David Letterman mess up his hair last night, the former Senator was at a private fund-raiser in midtown Manhattan, also attended by Kevin Bacon, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Alex Forger—one of the co-executors of the Jackie Onassis estate.
A reader who attended the event—emailed me last night with this report of Edwards' remarks:
He did mention that he thought McCain was the likely Republican nominee and that McCain was ā€œcrazyā€ā€”unfit to have his ā€œfinger on the button.ā€
He said that Hillary and Obama have true dislike for each other and that after the most recent debate Hillary mentioned to John in passing that there’s more about Obama and that ā€œslum landlordā€ [Rezko] that has yet to be disclosed to the public.( but not necessarily from her)
Tim Robbins raised the possibility of a brokered convention and Edwards mentioned that it was remote but a possibility."
Of course Edwards campaign officials said it was misstated but at least he's got a few friends with money!

Come on, Huff Post. You're reaching and it makes you look pathetic. What's happened to the intelligent and unbiased reporting you used to do? Edwards is clearly having a moment of fun and actually enjoying himself. Why do you try to make it what it isn't? You've just lost me as a regular reader. I guess it's back to the NYTs for me. Ugh.

The media has much to do with the disparity of results in the primaries. The media is interested in ratings rather than in the quality of the candidates.
