Jon Stewart Cnn Debate

"Oh my God, they're fighting over issues," Jon Stewart said on "A Daily Show" last night, referring to Monday's Democratic debate in South Carolina. He joked that CNN, having exhausted ideas for how to frame the debate, must have realized, "The one thing we never thought to try turns out to be the one thing that worked!"

CNN did have one trick up its sleeve, though, in what Stewart called "the set switcheroo" — switching from podiums to chairs midway through (which, of course, allowed Rush Limbaugh to remark that Hillary was "the only [candidate] sitting there who could not cross her legs"). Watch, and wait for the biggest surprise of the evening: Dave Chappelle in the house!

What we know about Republicans is they do not vote "FOR" issues or leaders, they won't "AGAINST" whatever they are told to fear at the moment. With this insight, Dems need to vote strategically. All of the Republican candidates have major flaws, including and especially McCain. None of them appeal to all the factions of the conservative voter. McCain has problems with the neocons who want the US to be Jack Bauer in 24 and torture, he has problems with the bigots- amnesty for illegal immigrants, anyone? And Wall Street? He is against Bush's tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.

So, in order for him (or any Republican) to win, the Dems need to have a candidate they can promote as something to fear far worse than the differences they have with the Republican nominee.

Unfortunately Hillary and Obama can deliver the red meat they need to instill enough fear into republicans to drive them to the polls. Whether it be Clinton hating, fear of women in control, fear of a black man in control, fear of a (wink wink) possible muslim in control, Bill Clinton's penis, etc, etc.

John Edwards is the only candidate that will not only adhere to the Dem principles, but most importantly, the Republicans are not going to be fearful enough of a white southern man (albiet with great hair and a big house) to vote for a Republican they can't fully get behind.

Hillary and Obama will still be in the Senate and still have fabulous futures ahead in the party (if their bickering doesn't completely destroy them and us). Vote strategically. Edwards is our only hope and the GOP's worst nightmare. It's about time we stop shooting ourselves in the foot and feeding the monster.

Go Edwards Go!

The guys really BLEW IT for years!
They SUCK at being President.

They're scared of wife and mommy and say
misogynistic things, show they're total wusses

It's time to vote for a woman.

Hillary can do the job without needing
a "sweep up crew" or diapers changing like GWBush does, and that includes the rest of the candidates.

Barack Obama did a brilliant job defending himself against the distortion that the Clintons have created over the past few weeks. I have never seen a democrat pull a psuedo-swift boating like what the Clintons are doing right now. They are mischaracterizing and distorting Obama's positions left and right and they need to bestopped for the good of the democrtic party.

To be honest senator Obama worries me because all he did was complain. What is he going to do if he is the elected one? You better believe that the republicans will hit and hit hard at everything he has done and not done in his life. There will be nothing that will be off limits. I thought it looked like the campaign was really getting to him. It didn't look good to complain so much. Less time to talk about some of the real issues we in this world are facing. Besides this is the way of campaigns. Nothing is peaches and cream when you are running for office and it shouldn't be. We want someone tough who can take it and give it back. Not someone who will complain. He never mentions all the times he has called Hillary out and questioned her on anything. But she is supposed to be a quiet woman and take it all and have no response. I for one am glad she has found her voice against these two who have raked her over the coals long enough. We have a double standard. Men can attack and their great and forceful women attack and they are hussies, b##ch, and many other names under the sun. I've never been able to figure this out. Are people upset that a woman dared to go after the presidentcy?

If you want to know what that legacy was, visit: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2001/01/08/politics/main262484.shtmlLBJ on the other hand had one term in office. It's easy to be cool and collected when no one really thinks you have a chance to win and they don't waste their time taking potshots at you. I wonder if Bill Clinton has even said anything at all about John Edwards since it was clear he was going to be back in the pack. He certainly hasn't chosen to try to villafy Edwards like he has Obama.

I admire Edwards- and I'd definitely prefer him over Hillary- but it's clear he's not going to get into the White House this year anyway except at best as VP. He deserves more- but that's not the way it's playing out.

If you're an Edwards supporter, I think you need to seriously start looking at other candidates. I hope you can find it within yourself to support whomever wins the Democratic nomination- but I'm an Obama supporter, and given the sour taste the Clintons have put in my mouth for the past month, I know that I myself am going to be struggling to be enthusiastic if Hillary is the one that wins the Demo nomination.

The only one on that stage that looked Presidential was John Edwards. He was articulate and spoke eloquently about the issues while the other two were sniping at each other. Edwards was the winner, hands down. Now back to the corrupt corporate media and their two candidates - Disgusting!
