Dana Jacobson Suspended

UPDATE: Icon Sports Media has released images of Dana Jacobson's drunken rant at the Mike and Mike roast. The coveted video is still hidden away, but the pictures below give you an idea of just how messy it must have been:

Add ESPN's Dana Jacobson's name to the list of media members who recently found themselves in trouble because of inappropriate comments or actions.

Sources have confirmed that Jacobson, a co-host of "First Take" on ESPN2, currently is serving a one-week suspension because of her behavior at a Jan. 11 roast for ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic at Atlantic City, N.J.

While declining to confirm Jacobson had been suspended, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said, "Her actions and comments were inappropriate and we've dealt with it."

From FanHouse's Michael David Smith

Jacobson reportedly said "F*** Notre Dame," "F*** Touchdown Jesus," and "F*** Jesus" in an attempt to talk trash to Mike and Mike co-host Mike Golic, a former Notre Dame football player.

An ESPN spokesman e-mailed me the following statements:

From ESPN: "Her actions and comments were inapprorpriate and we have dealt with it."

From Dana: "I am very sorry. My remarks about Notre Dame were foolish and insensitive. I respect all religions and did not mean anything derogatory by my poorly chosen words. I also deeply regret the embarrassment I have caused ESPN and Mike and Mike. My actions at the roast were inappropriate and in no way represent who I really am. I have personally apologized to many of the people involved. I won't make excuses for my behavior but do hope that I can be forgiven for such a poor lack of judgment."

According to the Catholic League, it remains unclear whether Jacobson actually said "F*** Jesus" or if she just said "F*** Notre Dame." In the event that she did say "F*** Jesus," the Catholic League will argue for a harsher penalty than one week's suspension.

I am shocked she only got a week of suspension. A Fatwa requiring her head to tumble from her shoulders is the only appropriate measure here. That is what an Imam or other cleric would decree if Muhammed had been similarly blasphemed.
Christians are just as pious and God-fearing as Moslems. Christian justice is entitled to the same as Moslem justice.
Her head should roll.

Can't you just seen that William O'Donnell guy who gets on television and gets more redfaced than any politician at even the smallest slight or negative reference of The Roman Catholic Church or its institutions, but never even admits to the HUGE molestation problem that existed for years--and probably exists still in parts of the world.F*** The Catholic League

Now that's the best and most constructive use of the word fuck in the history of the word fuck.

What makes no sense is that this outgush of profanity was at a ROAST, not in the middle of goddamn Notre Dame football game!

Now what if she'd said fuck Illinois or fuck Michigan and so on, what would they have done to her? Nothing. Ha-ha, whatever, it's all in good fun. But disparage God's team and watch the doltish Notre Dame worshippers smite you dead!

Hey, FUCK is a good word and I wish people would quit using it in such a derogatory way. It's UNFUCK Notre Dame! It's UNFUCK Touchdown Jesus! It's UNFUCK the Catholic league! Or what I really prefer is "go Cheney all of them!"

Swigging a vodka bottle and cursing out Notre Dame. Sounds like a real party girl. I think she must be a Michigan State gal.

The level of self serving ignorance is amazing here. No one cares what she said about Notre Dame. This has NOTHING to do with Notre Dame.
Its about saying F--k Jesus.

Can you even imagine if Dan Patrick was at an ESPN roast and in reference to a Jewish school, said f--k the Torah, as a matter of fact F--k Jews?
It would be so outrageous, that defense of his "right" to say it would cross the line from being a free society into defense of hatred.
And thats what this is about, an obvious hatred of things Christian.

The ease with which an employee of ESPN engaged in this Anti Christian bigoted conduct is very telling.

That's funny. Fans say it all the time. Shows that "push the envelop" bleep this out all the time because they know it'll get ratings. And now what happened? ESPN doesn't want the Catholic League nutcases on their corporate ass?

Wait a minute, she was suspended for saying disrespectful things AT A ROAST??! Isn't the point of a roast to say things disrespectful of EVERYONE in attendance?

Can we take a single conservative serious anymore when they harp about "political correctness" and then want to fire somebody for rude comments during a private event intended to evoke rude comments?

My God, I can't believe how F______ Stupid most of you people are!

None of this has anything to do with Notre Dame, college football, or the like.

It has to do with the F___ Jesus line. While she has free speech in America and I support it 1000%, I want to hear the outrage from you tolerance crowd about her deriding one of the largest religions in this country.

You idiots were SOOOO outraged when Mel Gibson got drunk and ranted against Jews, where is that same zeal now? So if you are OK with her saying this, then you have no problem replacing Jesus in that line with, Mohammed, Muslims, Jews, Blacks, Asians, Mexicans, women, handicapped, homosexuals, or any other group? Anyone who believes that, stand on your head!

Hi, Christian here, not offended by any means. My fellow Christians need to lighten up and quit being so offended.

You know, if you don't like it don't watch it or write the sponsors to complain. Good old freedom of speech and consumer power.

I guess they didn't notice it's a roast. Did you ever hear some of the uncensored Friars' Club ones? Obscene, politically incorrect, and downright hilarious.

It's amazing how the corporate blowboys have managed to take over these events and suck all the life and fun out of them.

And if you can't say "Fuck Jesus", in a free society, why not just import the Taliban and ask them how we should run things? Different religion, maybe, but I'm sure they have some interesting ideas on what's appropriate. No doubt the Catholic League would applaud enthusiastically as the torture and executions were carried out, too.
