Bill Clinton Compares Obama To Jesse Jackson

ABC News:

Said Bill Clinton today in Columbia, SC: "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in '84 and '88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here."

This was in response to a question about Obama saying it "took two people to beat him." Jackson had not been mentioned.

Boy, I can't understand why anyone would think the Clintons are running a race-baiting campaign to paint Obama as "the black candidate."

Interesting. Clinton makes a realistic tactical observation (78 percent of African-American voters DID support Obama, compared with 19 percent for Hillary and just two percent for Edwards), notes that Jackson also did well in S.C.... and, once again, he's accused of "playing the race card".

Small detail -- the friggin' S.C. vote was OVER by the time he spoke. A little late to be playing ANY cards, don't ya' think?

Maybe, we should start attacking the media for "playing the race card". THEY mention something about the African-American vote every fifteen minutes.

There's no fighting a narrative, once it has legs and gets cycled into the news stream.

Bill Clinton is just like Karl Rove!

Liar, deceiver, twister of truth, shapeshifter!

Why wouldn't they boo Clinton since this "liberal" blog and most of the other "liberal" blogs have spent weeks portraying both the Clintons as racists and liars. Obama's surrogates along with a media that has always hated the Clintons has done more damage to the Democratic party then they will ever admit to. I know that I will never, never, vote for Obama. I prefer John Edwards, but media took him out of the race long ago. I will vote for Hillary Clinton. But because of what the Obama surragates have done to the Clintons I will never vote for him. Didn't like him much before, loathe him now. Whiny little fella isn't he? Just like his whiny little supporters. Do your victory dance today folks, cause even when he wins, we all lose!

I don't think the Clintons need to paint Obama, he's black already.

At the same time in Tennessee, Bill Clinton admonished the crowd when they started to Boo at the mention of Obama's name. He wouldn't allow them to react in that way. But you fail to recognize this. It's OK for the Obama crowd to boo, but you'd have crucified Hillary if the reverse were true. The more you disparage Hillary, the more I want to vote for her. she's a smart lady and for that you hate her.

Shameful on the Obama crowd who booed Clinton tonight when they showed his image on the monitors. Classless.

On one hand, you attack Clinton for doing the press' job for them (questioning Obama's record) and yet days later, commit the very same behavior whined about for the week leading up to the voting on Saturday. It has been the media who have been playing the race card here (because it makes for good fodder for political talk shows), not the Clintons. Does anyone actually believe either of the two despise blacks? If so, it is YOUR hatred that is clouding this election. When Clinton called the press' treatment of Obama a "fairy tale" the comment was addressing how the media seems to have this malaise when it comes to Barack's voting record on the war since coming to Washington. It was NOT a comment regarding his candidacy yet the media turned it that way because it helps to get MSNBC's Hardball ratings beyond 2500 viewers per hour.

More than likely, I'll vote for Barack if he gets the nomination but as I wrote earlier this evening, he's going to get his clock cleaned if McCain is the nominee. John is the only conservative who can win over independents. Hell...even I might vote for the guy simply because on many major issues, we agree. Barack is NOT going to win over white voters if McCain is his opponent. End of story. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in la-la land. I've been a Democrat since 1979 and even I know that much.

cf freedom:

style over substance? Obama(Harvard Graduate-sigma cum laude) has had more substantive grassroots experience with real people than Hillary will ever have. He has the youth, vigor, and temperment to lead this country.

I think(and I hope) that America is tired of the Clintons. They were the craze of the nineties, but now the swoon of the 21st Century.

Economy? Obama can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. He has a substantive economic plan, that is not based on smoke and mirrors.

Barack Obama is not a shell of a man, with no substance. Granted some of his speeches are at times simplistic for educated Americans, but, I do not perceive us to be his target audience. Its mainly for the common American family man or woman.

The Clintons are a product of the 90's, a decade of mediocrity, tediousness, overly politically correct attitudes, dumbed down media, nihilistic attitudes, smug, self important "irony", pseudo-intellectualism, and gross, insulting insincerity.

I don't want a return to that decade at all.

Yeah that what all bigots say about black people we are all alike, we all look alike and we all have the same views. Anybody with a kindergarden education would know better that this. When is somebody going to stand up to him and say shut up. GO HOME!

America tell Bill and Hillary to shut up.

It is great fun watching Liberals finally see Bill Clinton for who he truly is...

Just a Good Ol' White Guy from the South who will go after any black man he has to get what he wants. And they used to call Bill "The First "Black" President"...

Bill's strategy of going after Obama because he is black will likely work - even Liberals have plenty of racists in their mists, but it is sure laying bare to the American public exactly who Bill and Hillary are...

Maybe Bill/Hillary can get the endorsement from George Wallace's daughter.

I used to really like and respect the clinton's, and I was so excited when Hillary announced she was running. But after the seeing them in action the past few months, they both disgust me. There politics are so dirty, they will do anything to win, including trying to split the country on race. I am now an ex- Clinton supporter and will vote for Obama. GO BARACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
