Bill Clinton Compares Obama To Jesse Jackson

ABC News:

Said Bill Clinton today in Columbia, SC: "Jesse Jackson won South Carolina in '84 and '88. Jackson ran a good campaign. And Obama ran a good campaign here."

This was in response to a question about Obama saying it "took two people to beat him." Jackson had not been mentioned.

Boy, I can't understand why anyone would think the Clintons are running a race-baiting campaign to paint Obama as "the black candidate."

Bill won't give up the smear. Take the Clinton's down California.

There you go again Bill.

Pigeonholing Barack as the angry black male candidate, like Jesse Jackson.

Bill Clinton using race to divide the Democratic party and the country? What kind of shameless panderer of people's base tribal instincts do you think our former president is? Blasphemy I say!

I have changed my mind, the Clinton's are racist and playing a southern strategy. I really don't want them in the White House. I hope the super-delegates are paying attention.

No, the Clintons don't want to being race into the campaign. They just enjoy comparing Obama to a former presidential candidate who "happens to be black." It is also an insult to black people, suggesting that they only vote for black candidates, when in fact Bill probably owes his two terms to black voters. Why else do they call him the "first black president?"

Hillary always opens her stump speech by saying how wonderful it is to have an African-American and a woman running for president. The idea is to brand him as a black candidate and provoke white bigotry. She is shameless.

Bill Clinton has pretty much destroyed any good feelings I had about that family.

He knows just what he's doing. Jesse Jackson has been pretty much demonized by the right wing and Clinton is trying to tar Obama with that brush.

No more Bushes -- No more Clintons -- We need a clean sweep.

You liberals go out of your way to denigrate Jesse Jackson at every turn.

Obama hasn't done anything special.

Jesse Jackson won SC twice and he did as a proud black man, not a man who runs and wouldn't even talk about race.

Bill Clinton is so divisive. It's disgusting.
