JFK's Daughter Endorses Obama

OVER the years, I've been deeply moved by the people who've told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama.

My reasons are patriotic, political and personal, and the three are intertwined. All my life, people have told me that my father changed their lives, that they got involved in public service or politics because he asked them to. And the generation he inspired has passed that spirit on to its children. I meet young people who were born long after John F. Kennedy was president, yet who ask me how to live out his ideals.

Sometimes it takes a while to recognize that someone has a special ability to get us to believe in ourselves, to tie that belief to our highest ideals and imagine that together we can do great things. In those rare moments, when such a person comes along, we need to put aside our plans and reach for what we know is possible.

We have that kind of opportunity with Senator Obama. It isn't that the other candidates are not experienced or knowledgeable. But this year, that may not be enough. We need a change in the leadership of this country -- just as we did in 1960.

As interesting and worth comment as the Caroline endorsement is, what seems to have been evoked here is a shallow, contentious, spit ball fight among people with prior commitments. I am not above it, but I usually do not lead off with it.

The history being made today will, well as I look at my clock, yesterday, is of consequence, whether you choose to belittle it, as many here have, or consider it. If you choose to consider it, that is, what does it mean for what has been the only American royalty by common assent for 45 years to give their name to a cause, then it must be worthy of more thought than that given to the next event horizon of the election cycle.

The visages of JFK and RFK have endured criticism for all those 45 years. The Reagan myth is the next runner up with 28 years. Of course George Washington was offered a crown by elements in a grateful and unimaginative new country. These are legends, for better or worse, in truth or in fiction. All the quibbling about the details of their making are dust motes, swept away through the endurance of the legend, again for better or worse.

The gate keepers of the Kennedy legend are Teddy and Caroline. They gave what they had to give, all the political might that the legend of the clan has to offer to a man in which they see promise. They see the promise that he will do good service to and not detract from that legend.

If you are so perfectly cynical that a pledge of your personal family honor, revered and held high by this nation and the world, could be given for some selfish temporal objective and not in full faith of your judgment that this honor will be upheld in the giving, then you are a person with questionable honor.

At the end of the day this America, there is too much at stake to elect OBama. The perceived black slight Obama is experiencing will be nothing compared to what the Republicans will throw at him.

I really, really hope i'm wrong here:

But after Clintons "tearing-up"-stunt, I fear she's plotting something even worse in order to change the momentum in the final seconds, maybe an "assassination-stunt":

Next monday Feb. 4, 9pm, the news may be:
"An unidentified young african-american man jumped out of a cheering crowd an ran towards Clinton, holding a knife over his head, screaming "die woman - go obama". He tripped and fell just before reaching Clinton and got overpowered. Clinton is unharmed but under shock. No video footage available."

I really, really hope i'm wrong here...

Enough already...

Most of us HAVE NOT EVEN VOTED IN A PRIMARY YET and yet everybody seems to want to crown him KING ALREADY!

I say let the process continue...

Obama IS bi-racial of African and Irish descent...

If the media pundits would only emphasise that yes he is THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS...and not say:
This Is about BLACK versus WHITE candidates...Lets honor his heritage
-and what makes America TRULY GREAT.

AMERICA NEEDS HOPE!

Before Iowa, race was not an issue:

Obama won Iowa.

Obama unified people of all races and drew in Independent and Republican voters. America seemed invincible.

After Iowa, race becomes an issue:

Obama loses in 3 states, but holds the lion share of elected delegates.

The country is divided by racial lines and the media continuously warns African-Americans, if you vote for Obama, regardless of the reason whites will not vote for him.

In the end, the Clintons and the media"s racist and divisive tactics may get Hillary the nomination, but they will not help her win the National election. The Clintons personify evil and hopelessness, they have proven to be liabilities to their Party and electing them would only result in them being a liability for the country.

Thanks Caroline for putting America first. Your mother, father, and brother would be proud of your patriotism, strength, and character. God bless.

I followed JFK as an American hero--I was teaching the day he was killed and a student of mine in Detroit told me about it between classes--I sat in front of a tv for three days watching the funeral etc--he and Dr King were heros of mine--Obama doesn't come close to representing their talent and ethics in government and working on solutions to difficult problems-he's a fresh breeze that will fade as all breezes do!!!

The good Senator Barack Obama from Illinois has not recieved hardly any criticism for his stand on his policy platform...but he WILL...
Wait until the Right Wing Machine starts to grind.
That is what concerns me..that Barack Obama is pretty weak on many, many issues..yes although great oratory and fiery speeches may get the 'church crowd' going...(hallalulah!) it won't mean diddly in the General Election

It is a sad day when you think Obama could remind people of your father! Your father had a clear message this man you support has not the experience or grace your father had and never will. Obama lacks knowledge and expertise to get this country out of the mess Bush has gotten us into.
