Hillary Rodham Clinton remained unbowed Sunday following her landslide loss to Barack Obama in the South Carolina primary, dismissing any notion of Obama as a political phenomenon and vowing that husband Bill Clinton would remain a vivid presence on the campaign trail.

While some view Obama's victory as a sign that his popularity will attract a new generation of voters bent on ending the politics of the past, Clinton noted in a phone interview with McClatchy Newspapers that the early contests had been basically evenly split.

"We've had five elections," Clinton said, referring to the contests so far. "People have had a chance to express their feelings. We've each won two, and I won Michigan. It's a step-by-step process."

The Michigan primary was essentially uncontested, as candidates vowed not to campaign there because the state broke party rules by moving its primary to Jan. 15. No delegates were chosen, and only Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel joined Clinton on the ballot.

Clinton said she and Obama "both have brought people into the process" in part because of the "pent-up hope and anxiety and insecurity that has built up" among Democrats after nearly eight years of the Bush Administration.

From Judicial Watch:

Even though Democratic presidential candidates pledged not to campaign in Florida after its primary was moved up, Hillary Clinton spent the weekend in the Sunshine State raising big bucks and campaigning before Tuesday"s big event.

Violating her own party"s rules, Clinton toured south Florida with the mayor of Miami (Manny Diaz) and attended two big fundraisers Sunday evening. The first event was held at a bowling alley in the trendy South Beach area and supporters paid $500 each to schmooze with the New York Senator.

Outside the bowing alley, in clear view of hundreds of supporters and opponents, Clinton was spotted holding a rather large sign that read, in part: "We want a president that can keep a promise." Of course, she was referring to herself. If that isn"t campaigning, then what is?

Democratic presidential candidates vowed not to campaign in Florida, a crucial swing state, after it moved up its primary to play a bigger role in choosing the nominee. The Democratic National Committee also stripped the state of delegates to the party"s convention in late August. Ahead in most Florida polls, Clinton is now urging the party to reverse and seat delegates from the state.

In the meantime, the former First Lady is disregarding her own party"s rules and campaigning all over the Sunshine State with local politicians who support her.

What else can she say? After spending millions in SC and having her husband do his best to bring out any residual racist feelings folks may have had, BILLARY LOST. The real headline out of SC is not so much that Obama won, but that OVER SEVENTY PERCENT OF THAT ENTIRE STATE REJECTED HER. That's gotta hurt.

To KansasAmerican - Clinton will say anything to get elected. She brought a lot of baggage from the past, I still have not forgiven her for that and I wonder, has America forgotten?
She also flip flops on the war pull out.
Let us see if she really cares for us and will disagree with Cheney's FISA BILL today or if she and Obama will abstain from it so it gets passed and then we will be screwed. I suggest you look at her voting record. Unless you are profiteering from this war you need to get your facts straight.

Hillary should shut the fuck up and go home and learn how to be a housewife for once.

Any political pundit worth their salt will tell you that South Carolina is more important in deciding the outcome of the Republican nomination, but it is NOT as important in deciding the Democratic nomination. So, Hillary IS correct; it's a step by step process. I would add that this race has obviously turned away from being a horse-race into becoming a marathon towards top Dem candidates gaining enough delegates in deciding who will be our eventual nominee. Let's not forget, Bill Clinton in the '92 election didn't even win his first primary until March, in Georgia, before going on to win the Democratic nomination and the presidency!

Edwards '08!

If she's not elected President, then who's going to support Dubya's war in Iraq. That war must be kept going...it's what made Chimpy the war President and made so much money for his family and aquaintences. Now McCain can see how wise the Chimperor is....he'd not only support that war...but has plans for wars of his own.

I support Hillary Clinton for president because of her preparations and qualifications. However, one reason I'd like to see her win is that it would be a poke with a sharp stick in the eye of the Main Stream Media. During the debates and on the talking -head programs, a number of the moderators and commentators have made every effort to demean and discredit her. Chris Matthews, a leader of this exercise, has acknowledged it. Tim Russet has tried to decapitate her with concatenated stabs in the form of mythical, damning questions and Brian Williams rolled the race hand grenade at her. If not for their efforts and a number of others, Senator Clinton would possess a commanding lead over all the other candidates. This is one very prime reason I'd like to see a Clinton victory

She breezed through S Carolina like she didn't care either way and Bill made an ass of himself trying to distroy the democratic party. Then to complete the dis she took off without even thanking those who did vote and support her by leaving town, the state. And she left S Carolina with Bill talking for her about him more than anything. What a joke! They knew going in that Hillary had no chance but it left S Carolina like they will anyone who does vote for them.

There is an interesting article that everyone should read, especially if you are thinking about voting for Hillary. I must admit this is an eye opener that I am sure the MSM will not report.

It disgusts me that this witch says "I won Michigan..."

The cheat was the only one on the ballot; and now she wants those delegates counted?

She's trying to do the same for Florida b/c she has the Cuban vote?

Talk about Republican rule-breaking tactics. She has no shame.

Clinton is ahead in every Super Tuesday poll - by a wide margin - except Illinois. And Clinton is ahead in Florida by plenty. Lets see what the voters will do... somebody is not going to be happy. We have three great candidates...
