Obama Responds To 'Jesse Jackson' Remark

As many of you now know, former President Bill Clinton courted controversy yesterday after blowing off Barack Obama's popularity in South Carolina by comparing him to "Jesse Jackson," which is a racial code phrase for, "Go! Secede! Attack Fort Sumter this very minute!" George Stephanopoulos gave Obama a chance to respond this morning, and surprisingly, Obama refused to mention Jackson's opponents in 1984 and 1988, Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis, which are racial code phrases for "LULZ! Yr gonna lose to McCain, jerkwad!"

This morning on MSNBC, Clinton surrogate Senator Bill Nelson, as part of a continued effort to hype Clinton's anachronistic FL "victory", highlighted her superior performance across all demographics---with one notable caveat. Nelson concedes Obama decisively won "THE BLACK VOTE" in FL that, looking ahead to Super Tuesday, only gives him marginal and inadequate "POCKETS OF SUPPORT."
This is further evidence that Hillary Clinton continues to rely on her establishment sycophants (including Bill Clinton, with his Jesse Jackson assertions after South Carolina, etc.) to pursue a Southern Strategy: a desperate, futile and shameless attempt to racially polarize the electorate and relegate Obama to the status of a candidate who is for, by, and of African Americans alone. This racial triangulation will continue to backfire because it outrages African American, white, Latino and Asian Democrats alike. Please make people aware of Senator Nelson's comments!!

obama is no jessie jackson

while obama took some decent stands back when on the prison system which is the republican version of the great society, he has done little.

Speaking as an Obama supporter who had blogged endlessly and angrily about the Clinton baiting and traps of the past few weeks, I must say, to be fair (we Obamans like being fair),that the press really did trap Bill Clinton this time.

The original question is dropped in the video, and Bill's answer to it was not as ominious as it sounded when taken completely out of context. He himself said the question was "bait," and he was right.

On the other hand, of course....it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

So, when is Obama going to mention change? I want to know where he stands in regard to change. Specifically, does he want it? More importantly, do the American people, in his opinion, want change? It's about time he touched on this issue.

Does he intend to bring about any? Why won't he tell us?

I'm so tired of him not even mentioning the word. I mean, it's very possible that Americans want change. Has this not even occurred to him? He could be even be using "change" as his campaign catchword. But, nooooo. He can't even entertain the theme. Instead, it's all substance, substance, and more substance.

Ok ,the racial issue has been played to death. Let's talk the religious issue. Not the one you are thinking of... The real religious issue is this: the Israeli lobby wants a Republican to succeed Bush; if they can't get that, they want Hillary. If you doubt it see the many articles at www.Haaretz.com that say this quite openly. Barack Obama is a total unknown to AIPAC. For the first time since Jimmy Carter we could have a President who will actually take an objective look at our policies in the Middle East.

How interesting that Bill Clinton now tosses Jesse Jackson under the bus by his pejorative assertion regarding Obama. It was Jesse who came to his aid after the Monica revelation, although Jesse had his own infidelities lurking in the background. Bill is slick and Bill is sleazy, and I can accommdate that far more than I can Bill being disloyal and blatantly opportunistic. It appears that the last time Bill had any contact with even the sound of the word "principle" was with the head of his high school in Arkansas. Yet, his intelligence suggests that he clearly knows the difference between "first" and "enduring." They are not mutually exclusive. One has to actually work very hard to make them so.

Take a break, Bill. (I used to refer to him as "Mr. President." I guess everybody is downsizing these days.)

Obama seems to be getting better at handling this stuff as the campaign progresses. I think maybe the people who say that the Clintons' attacks are good for him are right.
Not so good for the Clintons, however.

The SC election was the talk at my So. Cal. party.

Interesting how nobody felt any need to be PC. It was quite odd to hear people say, Well, we have a racial race going on.

Even more interesting was hearing Democrats talkng about which Republican they may choose in case Clinton doesn't win.

Obama is quite right.

The Democratic party won't really be the party I was hoping to see back in power.

And since we who are the party core are, what does he say? The party of the past?

Guess we got that party hijacked.

McCain might really not be so bad, afer all.

He didn't need to respond. The Clintons are Arkansas trash they do not deserve any respect. We love you Senator Obama! Don't waste your time responding to these idiots. Stay on your game! The People Love you! You had an awesome victory last evening--followed by a wonderful group of endorsements this weekend! You are looking good and doing great! Forget the Clintons. Let those sore losers keep talking! They are going to hang themselves soon!

why is it no one appears to notive that Hillary didn't make the "I Lost" speech but left the state after only a few hours being there on vote day. She left Bill to make a speech that was more about him than anything else. She went on to the next state and acted like nothing happened. I don'r get it. If Barack loses should he send Michlle in to speak? Whay a dis not only to Barack but to S Carolina to think they should be given no time since they didn't vote for her?
