Update: Check out the pic-by-pic replay here.

Update: Obama explained today his alleged snub of fellow candidate Hillary Clinton, saying he was "surprised" to hear about the coverage this morning:

"I was turning away because Claire [McCaskill] asked me a question, as Senator Kennedy was reaching for her [Clinton]... And senator Clinton and I have had very cordial relations on the floor and off the floor; I waved at her as we were coming into the Senate chamber before we walked over. I think there's a lot more tea leaf reading going on here than I think people are suggesting."

However, this explanation seemed to contradict another statement offered by senior Obama adviser David Axelrod:

AXELROD: this was obviously an awkward day from that standpoint, and I don't think he wanted to stand there while Senator Kennedy was greeting Senator Clinton and I think that was an appropriate sentiment. Unfortunately, the camera caught it in a different way, and so it got interpreted that way and that's the kind of environment we're in right now. It's a very competitive race, so every little thing is going to be interpreted in that way- but it was really, I think, a matter of letting Senator Kennedy have his own conversation, his own greeting with Senator Clinton without him hovering over them.
BRZEZINSKI: I, I guess. I mean, I guess the Clinton campaign may see it as a snub. We've been getting a few e-mails and-

SCARBOROUGH: you're right. and then it was also interesting afterwards, David --

AXELROD: -in this environment, every single thing can be inflated and interpreted and will in a political -- in a hyperpolitical light. But- it is what I suggested. I think it's understandable that he would not want to stand there with Senator Kennedy as if he were-- lording it over her. I, I, I you know, I understand that instinct.

WASHINGTON — So close, yet so far away _ and so bitter.

Rival Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama came within a foot of each other just before President Bush's State of the Union speech Monday night and managed not to acknowledge each other, and certainly not touch.

Clinton, clad in scarlet, crossed the aisle between their seats on the House floor. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Democratic icon who had endorsed Obama earlier in the day over Clinton, reached out his hand when she came close.

She took it; they shook. Meanwhile, Obama, dressed in a dark suit, had turned away.

The rivals then retreated to their seats, only the aisle and four senators between them.

It was the latest chapter in the increasingly nasty fight between the two leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination and capped a dramatic day.

Hours earlier, Obama received the endorsements of Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy, the brother and daughter, respectively, of President John F. Kennedy. They were joined by Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., the senator's son.

The only Republican senator still running, John McCain of Arizona, skipped the address to campaign in Florida.

(This version CORRECTS the sequence of handshake.)

Barack Obama reminds me of Bush in the Bush/Kerry debates. Bush was so insulated and so surrounded by yes men that when Kerry disagreed with him, he almost seemed to take it personally. He just had this look like "How dare you question me?"

Obama hits me the same way, he doesn't seem to be able to deal with people who don't fall for the charm. Anyone who looks past the smile and the speeches - that he doesn't actually write, maybe his writer should run for president - he get's that Bush attitude of "I'm charming, how dare you not fall in love with me and give me anything I want. He's the political equivelent of the college jock in a bar who thinks every woman should be lining up to go home with him, and anyone who isn't interested must be a lesbian.

Hillary Clinton will still continue to be fine
Hillary Clinton will still continue to shine.
No matter what her haters do or say
All the haters are going to pass away anyway
And she will be triumphant at the end of the day.

Theme music: I Am Beautiful

Spoken:
Don't look at me

Every day is so wonderful
And suddenly, i saw debris
Now and then, I get insecure
From all the pain, I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends, you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness
The piece is gone left the puzzle undone
That's the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down
Don't you bring me down today...

No matter what we do
(no matter what we do)
No matter what they say
(no matter what they say)
When the sun is shining through
Then the clouds won't stay

And everywhere we go
(everywhere we go)
The sun won't always shine
(sun won't always shine)
But tomorrow will find a way
All the other times

'cause we are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes, words won't bring us down, oh no
We are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring us down
Don't you bring me down today

Don't you bring me down today
Don't you bring me down today,

Beautiful lyrics by Christina Aguilera

I hope that this is another one of those times when the News networks are trying to up their ratings by sensationalising something that was not a big deal to the people involved. I hope that after a Democratic candidate is finally chosen, all of the Democratic politicians will get together and behave admirably, so that their stand on the issues will prevail. We need to restore some sanity to this country, and the best way to do that at this time is to back the Democrats.

Hillary Clinton is and A class Manipulator. Which is troubling, very troubling. Her brazen remark to ABC news, suggesting that she offered her hand is not only ludicrous but troubling

I think Obama could care less, but as Maureen Dowd noted and others too, He should not be rattled and don't explain. Show some courtesy next time, play their game but swing for the fences at them, Win or lose.

Having the reputation of being liars and manipulators. and their action in this campaign are telling, the Clintons are going to get America in more trouble around the world than we know. How Hillary is going to restore it, with say half of its population resenting her, after she comes out winning this election, is my guess,??? problematic.

I watched Obama acceptance speech in the last primary. It was exhilirating.

Hillary leaves me cold. Her vote for the war, her cheering on of the Isrealis when they were bombing Lebanon, her careful triangulation of every issue, her massive contributions from the establishment.

She isn't an awful public speaker, but Obama is eloquent.

Ronald Reagan showed that eloquence matters, but in Obama we have someone that is going to put this to use for something positive.

I couldn't care less about this photo. It has absolutely nothing to do with the real issues.

I think that picture of Obama with his back turned Hillary is very revealing of his true character.I hope when the voters go the polls on super Tuesday they would do so with their eyes wide open.If your expecting a different kind of politics from Obama for get about it. He is a self-absorbed fellow that the press is trying to foist on the America people.

That photo was leaked by the Clinton campaign and they cropped out McCaskill the person he was talking too. Of course the pro-hillary media ran the leak as they were suppose too, even HufPo

On Fox News, Hillary stated she reached out to shake Obama's hand but he refused and turned his back to her.

Unless she has a ten foot arm, she could not do as she claims. She is again playing the victim.

Hillary made the initial snub last year x2 on the Senate floor. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/03/us/politics/03web-zeleny.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
"The relationship began to change, according to several Democrats who are friendly to both senators, when Mr. Obama began musing aloud about a presidential bid. The day he opened his exploratory committee, several Senate observers said, he extended his hand and said hello on the Senate floor. She breezed by him, offering a cool stare.

One week later, following the State of the Union address, the two senators found themselves doing a back-to-back interview on CNN. Mr. Obama went first, with Mrs. Clinton pacing a few feet away. Finally, an aide escorted her completely around the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building, avoiding walking directly by Mr. Obama."Many Senate observers, even those close to Mrs. Clinton, say they believe she set the less-than-collegial tone"

So Claire McCaskill is helping to lie for Obama! No surprise--she is a Judas who took 30 pieces of EMILY's List silver to get elected, then turns her ugly back on the women who helped her get elected and backs Obama. Why wouldn't she help to cover up Obama's rudeness? They're two peas in a pod.

Bo preparing for Super Tuesday?

Apparently, it is difficult to campaign in all 22 states scheduled for primaries on Super Tuesday, so BO is putting it out there...well, Clinton does have the advantage because of her celebrity and people are just getting to know him.

Has he not been spralled out in the newspapers since Iowa? Is he trying to say he's the underdog? The victim? What? Which is it this time oh wise one?

By the way, great decision making on Tony Rezco? Good choice of friends!

On Obama’s campaign plane, he answered questions about the “snub” moment from the State of the Union and Florida’s relevance, or lack there of, in this nominating process.

He said he was “surprised” about the photo and how his apparent turning away from Clinton was being characterized.

“I was turning away because Claire [McCaskill] asked me a question, as Senator Kennedy was reaching for her [Clinton],” Obama said. “And senator Clinton and I have had very cordial relations on the floor and off the floor; I waved at her as we were coming into the Senate chamber before we walked over. I think there's a lot more tea leaf reading going on here than I think people are suggesting.”

McCaskill was on the plane with Obama to back up his alibi, and she scolded the press for reading something into nothing.

"It was not a snub," she emphatically declared. "It was one of those accidents. Frankly everyone's spoiling for a fight, which is the politics of old, you know this thing isn't the politics of old. Its about new. It's unfortunate that everyone is so anxious for there to be problem on a personal level and I gotta tell yah, its just not there."

She added, "And I hope that um, that you guys help correct the impression that's out there. That somehow there was some kind of attempt on the part of Barack in any way be disrespectful or impolite.

But reporters pressed her, asking if there was a handshake or some kind of greeting between Obama and Clinton. how could he have missed the handshake. McCaskill, referring to when Obama first walked in said, "There was a friendly wave. A friendly moment [between the two candidates.]

"I was amazed when I woke up this morning. I didn't even realize, it was one of those things that all of a sudden is being blown into something it really just wasn't."
