Update: Check out the pic-by-pic replay here.

Update: Obama explained today his alleged snub of fellow candidate Hillary Clinton, saying he was "surprised" to hear about the coverage this morning:

"I was turning away because Claire [McCaskill] asked me a question, as Senator Kennedy was reaching for her [Clinton]... And senator Clinton and I have had very cordial relations on the floor and off the floor; I waved at her as we were coming into the Senate chamber before we walked over. I think there's a lot more tea leaf reading going on here than I think people are suggesting."

However, this explanation seemed to contradict another statement offered by senior Obama adviser David Axelrod:

AXELROD: this was obviously an awkward day from that standpoint, and I don't think he wanted to stand there while Senator Kennedy was greeting Senator Clinton and I think that was an appropriate sentiment. Unfortunately, the camera caught it in a different way, and so it got interpreted that way and that's the kind of environment we're in right now. It's a very competitive race, so every little thing is going to be interpreted in that way- but it was really, I think, a matter of letting Senator Kennedy have his own conversation, his own greeting with Senator Clinton without him hovering over them.
BRZEZINSKI: I, I guess. I mean, I guess the Clinton campaign may see it as a snub. We've been getting a few e-mails and-

SCARBOROUGH: you're right. and then it was also interesting afterwards, David --

AXELROD: -in this environment, every single thing can be inflated and interpreted and will in a political -- in a hyperpolitical light. But- it is what I suggested. I think it's understandable that he would not want to stand there with Senator Kennedy as if he were-- lording it over her. I, I, I you know, I understand that instinct.

WASHINGTON — So close, yet so far away _ and so bitter.

Rival Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama came within a foot of each other just before President Bush's State of the Union speech Monday night and managed not to acknowledge each other, and certainly not touch.

Clinton, clad in scarlet, crossed the aisle between their seats on the House floor. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Democratic icon who had endorsed Obama earlier in the day over Clinton, reached out his hand when she came close.

She took it; they shook. Meanwhile, Obama, dressed in a dark suit, had turned away.

The rivals then retreated to their seats, only the aisle and four senators between them.

It was the latest chapter in the increasingly nasty fight between the two leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination and capped a dramatic day.

Hours earlier, Obama received the endorsements of Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy, the brother and daughter, respectively, of President John F. Kennedy. They were joined by Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., the senator's son.

The only Republican senator still running, John McCain of Arizona, skipped the address to campaign in Florida.

(This version CORRECTS the sequence of handshake.)

Axelrod's explanation is reasonable - Obama avoided Hillary as a courtesy, so as not to appear lording it over her as Kennedy greeted her, since he had won the endorsement. He did wave to her earlier.

New Hampshire, we warned you...Got regrets?

Editorial Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Hillary's word: It's worth nothing

COURTING VOTERS in Iowa and New Hampshire, last August Sen. Hillary Clinton signed a pledge not to "campaign or participate" in the Michigan or Florida Democratic primaries. She participated in both primaries and is campaigning in Florida. Which proves, again, that Hillary Clinton is a liar.

Clinton kept her name on the Michigan ballot when others removed theirs, she campaigned this past weekend in Florida, and she is pushing to seat Michigan and Florida delegates at the Democratic National Convention. The party stripped those states of delegates as punishment for moving up their primary dates.

"I will try to persuade my delegates to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida," Clinton said last week, after the New Hampshire primaries and Iowa caucuses were safely over.

Clinton coldly and knowingly lied to New Hampshire and Iowa. Her promise was not a vague statement. It was a signed pledge with a clear and unequivocal meaning.

She signed it thinking that keeping the other candidates out of Michigan and Florida was to her advantage, but knowing she would break it if that proved beneficial later on. It did, and she did.

New Hampshire voters, you were played for suckers.

As a former high school teacher, reading some of these posts brings back memories. It's scary to think that these are the people who will be voting for the next leader of the free world.

After looking at the sequence of pictures. I'm not even sure that Obama even saw her.

Between Hillary and Obama is that Big Woman with the glasses. There is not even a hint that Obama's eyes where ever pointed in her direction when she approach. It seems that everybody was applauding something during this sequence. It is protocal to acknowledge every one in the chamber.

Why did Hillary snub that Big Woman in the Glasses ?
Does she have a problem with 4-eyed Glamazons ?

In Sen. Hillary Clinton"s early days, she represented a cannery that produced pork and beans, and in one case, a can which contained the ass of a rat.

She argued that there was no real harm, and besides "the rodent parts which had been sterilized were considered edible in parts of the world."

Vote Hillary if you think Rat Ass is Pork.

I don't fault Senator Obama if he turned his back on Hillary. I've done the same and have no regrets.

Hillary has to be nervous. She got a big lead in FLA with the absentee votes but a majority of the late deciders went Obama's way (according to MSNBC). That has to be encouraging to Obama.

Listening to Hillary talk about this FLA victory has to remind all of us that Hillary remains backed by the Democratic organization and she has the advantage. Obama needs big MO to get through next week against the machine that Clinton has behind her. If things are tight, Clinton will get the DNC to pull strings for her. I don't trust the DNC to be fair in this process.

-----CLINTON SLEEZE FATIGUE WILL INVIGORATE GOP, DISPIRIT DEMOCRATS AND SINK DEMOCRATIC TICKET-----

-----EDWARDS/OBAMA TO WIN-----

It is possible that Senator Clinton is the best candidate. However, even though many may like the policies that Senator Clinton proposes, they should also consider her record, just as Senator Clinton insists.
.
The last Clinton Administration, when faced with the fact that protection rackets where assaulting, torturing and murdering people with poison and radiation, chose to avoid its responsibilities to incarcerate the criminals and to protect the citizenry.
.
Instead, they made a deal with the criminal gang stalker protection rackets to leave them alone and to consequently abandon the citizenry.
.
Do we want a President who sells out the citizenry for votes?
.
Do we want a President who sends a "crime does pay" message to society?
.
Would you vote for a President who signed nonaggression deals with the KKKlan or the Nazi party? Gangs that torture with poison and radiation are much like the KKKlan and Nazi Party.
.
We do not need a sellout President. We need a principled leader President.
.
If you are one of the few who do not know what the above refers to, do a web search for “gang stalking” to see the tip of the dirtberg. Please do it before you decide to reply to my post. Here let me make it easy for you: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22gang+stalking%22.

JFK was a good president, RFK would probably have been a good president MLK was a very good person but in death, especially by assassination increases any half decent persons popularity ratings. Obama reminds me much more of Jim Jones!

Please send an Email to the Heritage Foundation at
heritage.orge.org expressing your view of their own Bill Bennett calling the Democratic Race in Florida an "AMBUSH"
on CNN tonight.
The Heritage Foundation and Bill need to learn what an AMBUSH is.

This is yet another diversionary tactic to keep us rubes from thinking about the real issues facing an America in decline.

So what if he snubbed her. He seems quite sincere -- for a politician -- & it is probably difficult for him to make nice with someone he dislikes. She's such a phony it doesn't bother her.

For Obama crybabies clinton recieved ober 500000 votes.

Every lefty liberal in the Senate and on the planet is endorsing Obama. He could not win the a general election in this country if he was running unopposed.

Frankly, I don't care if Obama or Hillary don't shake hands. They are in a hotly contested battle. Quick making a federal case out of something so small. I do care about what Democratic leadership did to Michigan and Florida. Just having a popularity contest is ridiculous and Hillary saying she is the winner isn't even fair play. So the Democratic Party isn't so democratic is it? Time for a new party. Why should I support these people when they disenfranchise people? Is it so necessary for small states to lead the pack? I think not. I've supported the Democratic Party, but I'm reconsidering.

More Clinton lies and distortions. All the Democratic candidates agreed not to campaign in Florida. All the Democratic candidates agreed that Florida's delegates wouldn't get seated at the Democratic convention.

Yet now that Hillary has "won" Florida, she just happens to be in Florida, where she declares "victory" and demands that Florida's delegates be seated. Shameless. Just shameless. Is this really what we want in the White House again? More lies and distortion, more spin and divisiveness?

I cast my very first vote for Bill Clinton for president in 1996, but I will never vote for Billary again.
