Congressman Cooter: Mika Is The Daisy Duke Of Morning Television

Ben Jones, aka Congressman Cooter who once played Cooter Davenport on The Dukes of Hazzard, appeared on an extended version of Morning Joe today while MSNBC waited for Bill Clinton to start a speech at 11 am. Host Joe Scarborough tried to cut off Jones, a former Georgia congressman now campaigning for John Edwards, but Jones had none of it.

Watch Jones ramble from, "Are you still sitting there in that same diner?" (Morning Joe's schtick throughout the primaries) to talking about himself in the third person, "Cooter's about to get preempted by Slick Willie." But Cooter's greatest line was when he said of Joe's cohost Mika Brzezinski, "Mika is the Daisy Duke of morning television."

I never watch MSNBC in the morning anymore.........just go to grouchy Heidi and overly loud what's his name on CNN.

Mika has NO class with her giggling and rude interrupting. What a loser.
I turned OFF MSNBC last Saturday, and I will never turn it on again.
Their coverage of the South Carolina primary was the WORST, I have ever seen.
Mika and Screaming Joe are a perfect pair !!!

I like Morning Joe. And I now like Mika and Joe together, although she still interrupts and talks over him way too much.

Look folks, MSNBC is trying to provide lots of coverage for this year's political races. I like the fact that they are doing it. And consider the alternatives. I won't watch any TV associated with Murdoch, and particularly not Fox News. And CNN generally is limited to Wolf Blitzer, which gets tedious.

I also think it's really important that MSNBC seems to be trying to get more women and minorities involved. It's about time. I see what appears to me to be a conscious effort to have women in the different panels. Although last Saturday Tim Russert's SC show reverted to the four white men around a table format. But on Sunday he had a woman there.

Actually I credit this to Keith Olbermann who hopefully made some people at that network wake up, recognize that there is an audience of political junkies, that we are not all white males, that we want women and minorities and a bit of entertainment thrown in, and they're trying to find a way to do that.

And I hope other people will watch and give them a chance too.

This is a bad day for morning TV. Let's Mr Smith spoke to Sen Kennedy about a couple of painful memories which Sen Kennedy & the nation share. That was a morning TV show-wasn't that?
There are times when one misses & yearns for the time TV stations showed test pattern from 2:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

I am disappointed in Mika, on the road. She was always the newscaster with dignity and class, but she's lost it completely. Maybe she's overtired from being on air for so many hours.

I like Joe. I agree with him on no issues, but I like him. He's a good guy. Unlike many republicans he seems to be an American first and a republican second. It's sad that the divide is so great his merely being a republican is enough for some to hate him.
