Smith Kennedy Obama
Senator Ted Kennedy, having endorsed Barack Obama for President, has begun his barnstorming on behalf of the candidate in earnest. This morning found Kennedy on CBS' The Early Show, where anchor Harry Smith, apparently lacking the wit or the wherewithal to pursue a more substantive line of questioning, took the opportunity to do a little whistling past the Kennedy family graveyard:

SMITH: When you see that enthusiasm though, and when you see the generational change that seems to be taking place before our eyes, does it make you at all fearful?

Naturally, Kennedy really didn't catch on to what Smith was driving at, and responded, "I think that what people are basically saying is that they want a new day and a new generation."

Lacking a more heavy-handed way of getting his point across, like, say, whipping out the Zapruder film or something, Smith delicately waded back into the matter of political assasination:

SMITH: I just...ahhh--I think what I was trying to say is, sometimes agents of change end up being targets, as you well know, and that was why I was asking if you were at all fearful of that.

Kennedy elected not to speculate on the matter, for once demonstrating that the repetition of campaign talking points can help to paper over a host of media sins.

Obama previously addressed the matter of personal security in an interview with Brian Williams in early January, saying, "I think that every presidential candidate, certainly every president these days-- is a potential target. And that comes with the job. And you take the precautions that are necessary and then you go about your business."

I think this is very unfortunate in that He must have been trying to be a hardhitting journalist. He is not, he is a nice guy doing a show in the AM. He is about as controversial as Captain Kangaroo.

Conflict Media.

They are elevating Barack Obama's stature to something MYTHIC. The media is so BS in being so biased with this candidate and demonizing everything Hillary Clinton does.

People he is just an good orator with good speechwriter(s).

until he wins the nomination, the only person obama has to fear is hillary and operatives from clinton, inc.

anyone who thinks that she will not take whatever steps are necessary to secure the nomination that she believes is her right, well, you're kidding yourself.

Folks:
anyone who hasn't thought about this seriously, at least for a moment, has their collective heads in the sand.

Regardless of the security detail, we must be mindful that there are hoards of people in this country who do not want to see an African-American President.

Harry Smith should be fired for fear mongering. It wasn't stupid, it was well thought out and intentional. By the way, if my theory is correct, the mastermind behind the JFK assassination was John McCloy.

If Bush can get thru 7 years unscathed, we can certainly protect Obama. I'd worry just as much if Edwards got elected. He's much more vocal against special interests.

If, God forbid, we should ever have another assassination, I hope Americans will not fall for the crap we put up with for JFK, RFK and MLK.

Disgusting. What he's saying is that any good candidate is a target in this country. What Smith is saying is that our country is no better than Pakistan. What he's saying and Kennedy is rejecting, is that the powers that be are so twisted that we can't even hope for hope. This was a real low journalistic moment. Thank goodness Kennedy rose above and didn't even acknowledge the questions implicit meaning.

Smith is a dildo. That said, I've heard many people whisper the same concern.
