Gonzales Probe Blocked

LA Times:

The government agency that enforces one of the principal laws aimed at keeping politics out of the civil service has accused the Justice Department of blocking its investigation into alleged politicizing of the department under former Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales.

Scott J. Bloch, head of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, wrote Atty. Gen. Michael B. Mukasey last week that the department had repeatedly "impeded" his investigation by refusing to share documents and provide answers to written questions, according to a copy of Bloch's letter obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Let me see, for those of you who did pass the bar or have seen an episode of Law and Order, impeding an investigation is some times called what?

Anyone, anyone?

Ob

Obstruction

Obstruction of Justice.

In fact, the Department of Obstruction of Justice could be the new name to the department formerly known as the Department of Justice.

The Office of Special Counsel ought to be immediately authorized to investigate those in the department of Justice or other government agencies impeding or refusing to cooperate with their lawful investigation under the theory that a conspiracy exists to cover up criminal activity. Turn the stonewallers into defendents.

Well they were stupid pusses for using a probe when they should have borrowed an electric drill from one of the many CIA torture facilities located near you.

No!! This cannot be so!!!!

The Cheney/Bush Justice Department blocking an investigation???!!!

I just hope they don't get the opportunity to do away with the DOJ entirely! That is their plan, afterall . . .

This is akin to a poker game with a stacked deck. The justice department has been methodically stacked. The only justice is "just us." The fox is guarding the henhouse.
No matter what wrongdoing occurs, it will go unpunished.

Why hasn't Gonzalez been disbarred? Any lawyer, let alone the former AG of the nation, who opines that the Geneva Conventions do not prohibit torture and that the Constitution grants no right of habeas corpus ought to be disbarred for gross incompetence (at the minimum).

If ya can’t fire everybody hired after November 2000, then at least make them re-take and pass the Bar examination. As for pressing criminal charges that should wait until the pardoner in chief can’t void them.

I left the republicans because of their shit. I get to the democratic side, and what do I get? Schumer and Feinstein. Impeachment immediately taken off the table. War funding continuing, hundreds more war dead since November 2006, no change, same shit different party. Everybody supporting John Edwards in real life, but in polls and caucuses and primaries, he's dead last. Up is down, down is up, like it or lump it.

Now come on. What possible motive could the Justice Department have for doing such a thing?

This is an agency under Bush after all; they have the opposite function as usual.

And,..... another in a series of 'shockers' from the Bush DOJ.

I was shocked,.... SHOCKED! to hear that Mukasey's Justice Department isn't interested in Justice regarding Mukasey's predecessor.

NOT
