Pranking Jonah Goldberg
The last time we reported on Jonah Goldberg, whose effort to outpace the Brookhaven National Laboratory's attempt to create the densest man-made material in the universe resulted in the authoring of his field guide for complete morons known as Liberal Fascism, he was getting totally owned by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show in a heavily edited segment that nobody enjoyed participating in or watching.
Now, the blogosphere is all a-titter with more laffs at young master Jonah's expense. It seems that one of the bloggers at Lawyers, Guns, and Money, banking on the notion that Goldberg would "literally re-print almost anything he's sent, provided that it makes some positive, vacuous observation about his book," sent him an email which praised Liberal Fascism in terms that just about anyone with the good sense the Lord bestowed upon the average sack of doorknobs could see was pure, insincere foolery.
The letter read:
Jonah--
I seem to be a slow reader compared to some of your fans, but I find myself drifting off into thought about once or twice a page, and it takes me forever to get through a chapter. This may sound silly, but my experience with the book, I've found, is similar to what I think must be going through my kid's head when she learns a new shape or color. When she learned what a triangle was, for example, all of a sudden she saw triangles everywhere -- and often in places that had completely escaped my attention. Same thing for me with the concept of "liberal fascism." It's just so easy to see it now that I'm reading your work, but I don't know how it could have been missed for so long. It's right there in the open.So reading your book has been like seeing history and the world politics anew. Thanks, man.
Naturally, the none-too-bright Goldberg gave the letter its own special wittle post on his special wittle bwog! As of this posting, Goldberg appears to be none the wiser. In fact, he's since added another letter from an "admirer," which notes: "Also the book has provided me with airtight rationale to start boozing again."
