Edwards Campaign feels the love: According to Edwards campaign manager Joe Trippi, the two remaining campaigns are "banging down the doors" to secure his endorsement.

Obama's statement: Barack Obama offered this statement on John Edwards' withdrawal from the presidential race:

"John Edwards has spent a lifetime fighting to give voice to the voiceless and hope to the struggling, even when it wasn't popular to do or covered in the news. At a time when our politics is too focused on who's up and who's down, he made a nation focus again on who matters - the New Orleans child without a home, the West Virginia miner without a job, the families who live in that other America that is not seen or heard or talked about by our leaders in Washington. John and Elizabeth Edwards have always believed deeply that we can change this - that two Americans can become one, and that our country can rally around this common purpose. So while his campaign may end today, the cause of their lives endures for all of us who still believe that we can achieve that dream of one America."

Obama: "I would love Edwards' support." From ABC:

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Sen. Barack Obama said that he has let former Sen. John Edwards know that he would like his endorsement should Edwards decide to drop out of the race. While Obama did not admit to rumors of back-door-dealings for delegate sharing, he said that he would strongly welcome a nod from Edwards.

"There is no doubt that I would love John's support, but I also respect the fact that he is in this contest. He is actively seeking the nomination, and he is a formidable candidate," Obama told "Nightline" co-anchor Terry Moran.

Clinton's Statement: Hillary Clinton reacted during an interview with a local Alabama news station:

Well Senator Edwards is a friend of mine, he was a colleague in the senate and I have the highest regard for him, and I'm really admiring of what he has done to make sure that poverty was on the agenda here in America. He encouraged all of us in his passion and advocacy and I hope he will continue that work because it is really important that we stay focused on what we're going to do to help people.

Now that Edwards has dropped out, isn't it time for Obama to drop out too??
It's time for real leadership, courage, a fighter, and the experienced candidate who can match John McCain - not a schoolboy pol who will go down to a landslide defeat. C'mon Barack - do the party a favor and endorse Hillary.

Hillary's reaction to Edwards' withdrawal: "Well John Edwards is a friend of mine, and I appreciate how he's brought the issue of poverty into the forefront of this campaign. Just as I appreciate how Barack Obama has brought issues of deep concern to the black community to the campaign. As an African-American male, Barack Obama stands for black Americans -- both those in prison and those on parole and those who are rising up, taking jobs from whites and Hispanics. I mean, I'm thrilled that we have an African American man in this race--for me, a white woman, to share the stage with a black man -- even if he is an angry, unpredictable black man at times-- it's such an honor for me. And while we differ on many policy issues--for instance, unlike Barack, I would not appoint unqualified black males and females to Cabinet positions in place of hardworking, qualified white males and females--we both agree, this election is about change."

Hillary's message in the wake of the Edwards Withdrawal:

"I would like to thank John Edwards for withdrawing from this race, but Mr. Edwards shouldn't think that just because his campaign is dead, that he can escape the scrutiny and the anger of voters. With his phony appeals to populism and $400 haircuts, he has disrupted this race and attracted white voters in the South away from me, so that the black candidate could win in South Carolina. That is reprehensible and will not be forgiven. John Edwards shouldn't think he can come crying to me when I'm president, asking for some kind of cushy job as Attorney General or something. It's not going to happen. Remember the old political adage, to 'the victor go the spoils.' The key word is 'victor', and I don't intend to lose. Now, we go onward to California and 25 other states on Super Tuesday. In California, white voters who deeply distrust the 'fairy tale', the 'roll of the dice' represented by my opponent, will flock to me. And Hispanic Democrats, who distrust a black candidate and will not vote for one, will also rally around me. I'll win in California and everywhere else. But John Edwards should remember that he can't come to the Clintons asking for favors -- he has done damage to this campaign, and he has sullied my name, and I will pay no heed to his pathetic pleas."

Hillary's throwaway statement sounded about as heartfelt as a kick in the as*.

She and Bill only care about winning and God help anyone who gets in their way.

Well, it ain't over 'til it's over...The people STILL get to have their say.

And I say Go Barack!

To all Edwards supporters here:

We Obama-philes are a broad and intense group. For certain, we are all very fired up and you will sense that. Most of us are extremely positive, and some of us get worked up over things and lose sight of the high ground from time-to-time. I think the bulk of it is understandable when there is so much at stake.

What I will personally ask you to bear in mind is that Obama and Edwards are on the same page where it counts most: fighting poverty and fighting the stranglehold of corporate influence over Washington. And the undeniable fact is that Obama has proven his power to bring new people into this process like never before. Our grassroots organization is electric. Lastly, most sources I have researched show that Obama is clearly the most electable Democrat, which cannot be ignored.

Thanks for considering. BTW, I voted for Edwards in '04.

"ScandalousCandice I heard it's because no Soldier will want to answer to a woman holding the highest office in the land. As sexist as that is, with Hillary being the woman that they are talking about, I can't say I blame them."

What an asswipe you are.

I read that superdelegates already pledged to Edwards made their switch to Obama ahead of the announcement. Yesterday, Congressman Raul Grijalva from Tucson, AZ switched his endorsement from Edwards to Obama.

Did anyone see Joe Trippi on MSNBC on the evening of the SC primary, just prior to the close of the polls? He was very angry about a robo call he said was done by the Hillary camp slamming Edwards -- recall that some polls were suggesting Edwards might win 2nd place -- so, I'm guessing the robo call was thought necessary to keep him down and maybe force him from the campaign by Clinton? Does anyone know more about this robocall?

I had a lot of respect for Edwards - not my first choice, but I could easily have voted for him. I would suggest that his supporters remember what he said in the debate about change -- about how he and Obama were faced the attacks of the establishment when they sought change.

I can't believe what i read from Obama supporters, " John Edwards must endorse Obama before feb 5th and campaign for him"
This is no sense ,I'm a huge Edwards supporter and his crowd always follow him for one reason, he's a fighter, he's been talking about corporate greed like nobody else, about poverty, unequal outcomes, many issues than the other candidates would not have even mention without him in the race , what i always liked about him was the real approach to the problems, we gotta tackle down whats hurting us, beat it, defeat it and we all gotta sacrifice. All i hear from Obama is that he would be the messiah that would bring "change" to this mess, the mediator between "us" the real workers and the Exxon board of directors, that he's gonna have a party where my sick brothers and William Maguire would be invited, give me a break!!! This guy is gutless man that cant even confront Hillary Clinton without pissing on his pants and having all of his friends coming in his defense because he cant even defend himself!
I will support HRC over Obama only cause i see in her more balls and backbone than what i see on Obama i dont even wanna go to the issues cause i don't even know the substance of his policies maybe he can erase the word change form his mouth a little and actually talk about substance in the incoming debate.

CNN and my blog broke the news first.

All those who love scream and shout on HuffPost can go on.

I said weeks ago that Edwards presidential ambition in 2008 is a lost cause. But he has a great future.

John Edwards is the real catalyst for change.
But the American media were signed, sealed and delivered to Barack Obama by the Washington Lobbyists, Rezkos, and the those political opportunists with beef for the Clintons.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama must be grateful to John Edwards.

Cheers and God bless.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Edwards should STICK AROUND, TO BE A KING MAKER - that is, a VP. That's the only way we get him into an office where he can actually MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
