Debate Ends With A Reverse Snub

Only one last piece of business to take care of as this cordial debate ends. Barack's got to knock down criticism of the blown-out-of-all-reasonable-proportion State of the Union snub! And so, Obama attempts courtliness, stopping to help Clinton from her chair, enjoying a friendly embrace, and then - just so that silver fox Claire McCaskill doesn't get too jealous - a few platonic pats on the back. Detente!

Another Huffy spin.
Helping Her from the chair ?
Hillary is not invalid, she can help herself. We all know it is a photo op.
I like Obama, but this is a little condecending, they are both at the same level, applying for the same position. Any independent woman will roll their eyes for this piece !

He meant well, I am sure, but this is not a way to make up for the previous rudeness.

Reminds me of Bush trying to come out of a meeting abroad, on his way out gave the German Chancellor (lady), still sitting, a shoulder rub. She of course shrug his off.

That the SNUB has become a major issue in this race for the Democratic nominee is as amusing as it is pathetic. Almost our entire military is bogged in Iraq, that country is a mess, Afghanistan is sliding under our feet, Pakistan could become a big nuclear Iran, the economy, energy, the continent of Africa..., and your big issue is a perceived handshake snub and how it proves that one of them is a bad person and should not be elected POTUS. I should add another to the list of serious concerns we face above - our country has our heads up our asses. How was The View today ladies?

Hillary says that Obama is an eloquent speaker (the MSM says that she is trivializing BO) Hillary calls BO youthful (the MSM says she is marginalizing him). I'm not sure if Hillary can do anything that the MSM will just accept at face value. I for one have lost a lot of respect for Russert and Matthews. It is bad times when Pat Buchanan is the voice of reason in the room.

I'm surprised that most of the readers here don't realize that political consultants train these candidates to make these kinds of moves. This has nothing to do with him "being a gentleman," or "trying to make amends for a perceived snub." Every move of body language is carefully choreographed and is in essence part of a silent battle. If you can be shown "helping" your opponent, it subconsciously makes your opponent look "in need of help." They also try to control the handshake, to stake out territory on a stage, to leave the podium, the write with pens while the opponent is talking... all very carefully scripted. Politicians don't even point with their fingers anymore, they point with a closed fist and thumb protruding. Pay attention to body language during a debate. You will see a fight going on that is well beyond words. This is literally 50% of the "debate."

This is so transparent. Obama gets caught acting like a spoiled brat, and snubbing Hillary at the SOTU. So now he has to turn on the psuedo Prince Charming act. And the press/media eat it up. Sad.

And Huffington Post is better than FOX how? With an out and out lie for a headline and no mention of a "reverse snub" in the story! They are no better than the republican hacks! Arianna can now join O'Reilly, Matthews, Scarborough, Limbaugh, Coulter, Ingram, & etc.!

I've had people do some really horrible things to me. Who hasn't. If there is no need for any continuing relationship, you may just want to move on, life is to short to keep toxic people in your life.

But if, like it or not, there is going to be a continuing relationship, you get over it, and move on in doing the best you can to be decent and civil.

It's a matter of honor. It takes great character to forgive and return kindness for evil. Further, holding a grudge ends up hurting you far more than it does the person you are holding the grudge against.

In most cases, people that do horrible things are so self-centered and insensitive that they generally don't care, and so times don't even know, that they have done something horrible. They probably aren't going to change, but giving up the grudge and treating everyone with kindness, whether the "deserve" it or not, it's a matter of character for you.

It's easy to be a good person to good people, but can you be a good person even to a horrible person? That is far more of a challenge, and a mark of real character.

Shalom to all.
