Barack Obama, the senatorial candidate of 2004, might have a bone to pick with Barack Obama, the presidential candidate of 2008.

Videotapes of debates and speeches that were obtained by The Washington Times show that Mr. Obama took positions during his Senate campaign on nearly a half-dozen issues ranging from the Cuba embargo to health care for illegal aliens that conflict with statements that he has made during his run for the White House.

Folks, the corporations have "allowed" Obama and Clinton to proceed because neither is threatening their profits. Since all Honest candidates have already been excluded, everything from now on will be game fluff to win the election.

Obama and Clinton, cannot propose eliminating the health insurance companies for fear of what all that health insurance money could do to them. That goes for any and all other, perceived anti-corporatist proposals.

For instance pot legalization.

Don't expect to get what you vote for.

I'm going to vote democratic and hope for the best.

I posted on this matter a couple of days ago.
I said, that his position then, would not go
over well in those red states, that he going after. I guess, his campaign, saw the light.
But, notice the MSM silence on this, either way. If this were Hillary...forget about it.
They'd be all over it. No?
Caught Hillary on CSPAN @ Los Angeles today
really good. They'll rerun it tonight.

How much did Obama get from the alcohol industry (or was it the corrections officers union) that financed that
high priority stand?

Alcohol is much more dangerous than Mary Jane!
Fix the laws.

Notice how quickly a story about an Obama flip-flop has dropped to the bottom of the page.

Too bad, Mr. Obama.

Petty drug laws are disenfranchising millions of blacks. Why turn your back on your own? Man, don't sacrifice your principles just to avoid some heat. This country NEEDS to be shaken up. And changing the nature of the failed War on Drugs is one that needs some serious work!

Of course, Obama does not have time to decriminalize marijuana. He's spending his time worrying about the Federal Government's case to 'criminalize,' i.e., convict, his long-time buddy and financial sugar-daddy, the indicted slumlord Rezko.

Obama must know that it is an insane public policy that wastes over 30 billion a year in an attempt to control substance use- policies that break up families, ruin lives, and infringe on our constitutional rights. These same policies encourage corruption of police and legislators (like Dennis Hastert). In fact, the reason why these policies will always fail is that the very agencies tasked with interdiction, are now profiting the most from these laws.

Obama must know that cannabis is the most popular and safest drug in use in the United States and around the world. According to the United Nations report on illicit drug use, some 160 million people (3.8%) worldwide enjoy the effects of cannabis.

While about 6% of the world's population consumes illicit drugs, only 0.6% are considered as having a drug abuse problem. So, the vast majority of illicit drug consumers are productive citizens. In countries where harm reduction policies are in effect, drug use has leveled off and stabilized.

The illicit drug industries account for 400 billion to a trillion dollars a year. Just think- a very small but determined percent of the world population, in spite of the many wasted billions spent to stop them, manage to generate more trade than 88% of the world's economies.

Until recently, all drugs were available to people, and abuse rates held steady at 10%. It is time to realize that drug use is part of human life, and make it possible for people to safely enjoy social recreational substances without fear of incarceration.

We have more people imprisoned in America than they do in Russia. More American citizens are jailed for drugs than violent crimes! We spend 16 million a day housing and feeding them. Since the enactment of mandatory minimum sentencing for drug users, the Federal Bureau of Prisons budget has increased by 1,954%. From 1984 to 1996, California built 21 new prisons, and only one new university.

Two points. (1) Potheads don't vote. They always forget the day and place. (2) It should stay illegal. Do you really want liberals getting dumber? Can they get dumber? God, I think they can!
Just listen...

Changing one's mind about marijuana does not constitute a flip-flop or a pro-Hillary stance. Posters here read too much into petty details such as this (Ex.: What all did Obama/Bill say in South Carolina? Nobody remembers. especially after yesterday's debate, it's all water under the bridge).

Here's an amendment to this debate: Legalize it, tax the hell out of it, and use the money for healthcare /soldiers' healthcare/education/ something worthwhile. Wait, that may be too much of a socialist idea to fly in this country, like free health care for everybody (it can be done).

The Times is politically conservative. It was President Ronald Reagan's preferred newspaper. Some have cited it along with the Fox News Channel and talk radio as epitomizing the conservative media - wikipedia

The Repubs will throw more, so what, they will have to do a lot better than this. Go Obama.
