News Corp Also Trying To Mount Yahoo Bid

Rupert Murdoch Yahoo Bid

Silicon Alley Insider:

TechCrunch reports that News Corp is also frantically trying to put together a competing bid for Yahoo, with the help of private equity firms*. This makes sense, given News Corp's previous interest in trading MySpace for a big Yahoo equity stake.

With only a $60 billion market cap, News Corp has the same problem that other traditional media companies do: It can't afford to do the whole deal. It could certainly provide some funding, relationships, and expertise in exchange for some equity, however. So far, TechCrunch says, there are no takers.

If the purchase of Yahoo by either News Corp or Microsoft is not in the consumers' best interest, the government should block the purchase.

That is the simple principle of antitrust.

And I haven't even touched the news consolidation angle, or the writers' strike angle.

I'm not holding my breath.

Murdoch himself has said he wants to own 'influence'. Why the Democrats don't beat him at that game is beyond me.

Hannity, Beck and O'Reilly make millions by pretending to be 'good old boys' while pushing us into wars and convincing people to vote against their best interests.

Murdock is like that slimy creature from the deep. Swirling around, and destoying or gobbling up everything in its path. He wants to own all of the media, so he can put his nutty, "Faux-Fake News" spin on all he possesses. The man is drunk with greed, money, and power. The consolation is that his new money channel via Fake News is a bust. Two hundred million dollars down the drain, but that is nothing to Murdock....pennys to him. I was shocked when he bought/gobbled up the WAll St. Journal, and cancelled my subscription immediately. This man is dangerous.

Yang would self-imolate before trashing Yahoo to Murdoch/s Mauraders.

PITY bush has no ANTI-trust division left in his DOJ.

Rupert Murdoch will not be missed when he dies. There will be a ton of people waiting to piss and shit on his grave when the joyous day that he bites the dust will arrive.

Where is hell is Murdoch going to get $45 billion? He's so leveraged he has to think twice about using a credit card at McDonalds for lunch.

I'm not even a violent or mean person, yet every time I read something about Rupert Murdoch I want to smother him with a pillow while he sleeps. Does this make me bad?

Why doesn't Murdoch buy Pravda instead, something more akin to his beliefs about democracy and freedom? Or maybe the Republican party?

One more rude comment. The title of this article is hilarious. Drop the last word and it has an entirely different meaning...and more to the point I think...

"News Corp Also Trying To Mount Yahoo..."

Ouch...that's gotta hurt.
