Washington Post:

Many Senate Republicans, even those who have jousted with McCain in the past, say their reassessment is underway. Sensing the increasing likelihood that he will be the nominee, GOP senators who have publicly fought with him are emphasizing his war-hero background and playing down past confrontations.

"I forgive him for whatever disagreements he has had with me. We can disagree on things, but I have great admiration for him," said Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), a senior member of the Appropriations Committee who has often argued with McCain over government spending.

But others have outright rejected the idea of a McCain nomination and presidency, warning that his tirades suggest a temperament unfit for the Oval Office.

"The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine," Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), also a senior member of the Appropriations panel, told the Boston Globe recently. "He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."

Where the heck did Huckabee go? At least you can argue with a religionist.

The chills the Republican Senators speak of are their fears that McCain will not only quash the sweetheart deals they get from corporations, but the fear that they may be investigated for those deals. They do not fear for their nation perpetually at war, but fear that they will will be prosecuted for their dishonesty.

These who are speaking of McCain are far worse. While I do think McCain is a dangerous man to be President, Ted Stevens is a Criminal who should be run out and sent to jail. Yuk! Consider the source! Anyone who supports Mitt Romney must be one of "them"! Get sick on this one! Peace

whether to believe these GOP senators or not . . . that is the question . . . but since they tend to vote "enblock" does it really matter . . . or might this signify that some of them will come to their senses and ask for impeachment of the chimp and the big dick . . . especially since many of them are up for re-election in November????

I'm going to vote for McCAin so he can open the borders and bring in more immigrants so that they water down the the ass backward Tancredo types who think, for some reason, that they own America.
